Summary: I own these speakers which are on the wife's computer. I own 2 sets of another speaker system which one set is on my computer AND one set is on my GigaBeat MP3 player. I also have one set of a third style for my portable DVD player. All work very well AND sound GREAT!! Enough Said!
Summary: I have tried to find a pair this size that beats these speakers, but have been unable to do so. I've had them for years and still use them daily. They're perfect for portable CD players, MP3 players, and my laptop too. For my PC I like a louder sound and the 3-piece set w/ subwoofer is ideal, but for everything else, this pair is hands down the best I have yet to encounter in its price range.
Summary: There is no need to have 5 speaker set up for computers (ignoring teenagers wishing surround-a-sound for silly games). I listen to RealAudio radio streams from the best broadcasters in the world - and the quality of their radio streams determine the quality of the sound. This pair of speakers replicates that sound very well. Deep bass and high tones sound good.
Summary: I purchased these speakers just to add sound to my computer. nothing more, nothing less. If you really want quality sound, i'd rather you go for the 3 piece altec lansing products, but if you just wanna hear occasional sounds from surfing the internet or playing 5-year old games, save some money and get these. Otherwise, anything else ranging from listening to music or playing computer games, DON'T GET THESE!!! You see, the speakers lack both treble and bass..
Summary: These speakers obviously don't have a subwoofer. In this case, that is perfectly fine. My friend has these speakers, I have a system with a subwoofer. Quite honestly, these are much better. If you are looking for cheap speakers that prodce earth-shattering bass, your search is over. Buy these!
Summary: I purchased these speakers mainly because I am in a budget, the sound is great, I don't how it would stack to a 3 piece speaker system by Harman Karndon, but these have great sound, not your average 2 piece system, I purchased these at a computer store for a little than the price here at Amazon.
Summary: I broke the volume control on my inexpensive 5 watt speakers and was looking to replace them. I purchased the ASC22's with a rebate so it was an excellent price but they are not nearly as good as the Yahama's were. No tone control so these sound very bassy (but not a good bass) and I can't increase the treble. The yamahas at least had a tone control.
Summary: At first I was okay with these speakers. They were ... and weak of course, but I wasn't expecting much for the price. Then I started having constant crackling and popping noises whenever there was any bass whatsoever(at any volume). I guess if you don't care about sound AT ALL, these will work fine. They won't even replace a basic CD-player for music purposes though.
Summary: The speakers that came bundled with my PC sounded so bad that I thought the sound card was defective -- but the sound card is on the motherboard, so I decided to try these speakers instead. The difference is simply amazing! Not being a 'gamer, I did not want a 3-speaker system. The sound quality from the Altec-Lansing's are as good as my boom box -- for general PC sound use, you can't go wrong with these...
