Very stylish set of speakers, lacking in the mid department

Summary: 73Watt RMS continuous and 100 Watt RMS Peak sounds great. Speakers really have a great look to them. Don't take up much space at all. Decent Base and treble, though the mid range department is a lil lacking.. YOu might find yourself tweaking your card or software equalizers to produce a decent mid range sound. Luckily I have additional Mid range speakers connected to this system to compensate for this (using a Channel Splitter) I am def.
Summary: Well, I found these on ebay for $90 including shipping, and received them today. The sound is excellent. Much better than my mini-stereo system I use upstairs with the tv/dvd. There are entire instruments that I hear now listening to music that were not picked up at all on my old creative labs system. Unlike most systems designed to be used with a computer, the midrange is quite strong.
Summary: I just got this product today. as look at this speaker system, I just have disappointed with the size. A small woofer, tiny 5-settle speakers. However, as I connected all the speakers and turned on music by Winamp, the sound was loud and clear. not poor to use. One thing that I'd like to mention to you is base is not as good as logitech Z560. no echo-effecting base sound. simply, there's no vibration of the bass sound. BUT !! Nice to use for computer user.
Summary: I'm running these speakers alongside a Creative SoundBlaster Live! audio card and only begin to notice distortion when listening at volume levels exceeding 80%. If you like to BLAST! your speakers, these are not for you. However, if you listen at reasonable volume levels the theater sound will blow you away! Alot of sound for a small price.
Summary: The Altec Lansing 5100 speakers are an excelent value! I wanted surround sound speakers but didn't want to spend over [three hundred dollars]. On the other hand, I did not want speakers that I wouldn't be happy with. This was the perfect choice for me. The sound is a 7 out of 10. They sound great listening to music. Excellent bass and highs, though the mids are somewhat lacking. During a movie, the rear speakers are relatively quiet. Perfect for gaming.
Excerpt: I have now had this speaker system for 2 years, and it is still performing well. I was at college at the time and just saved some money in order to build a new computer for my self. I created a gamming machine and wanted it to perform to a high standard. Sound can make a big difference when playing games and speakers that where good quality. I also have a large music collection and wanted a good set of speakers to listen to it.
Excerpt: Morning, Evening afternoon people, This is a review on The ALTEC 5100 5.1 PC SPEAKERS. I first saw these speakers yesterday (03/07/04) in PcWorld when i was wondering round the store looking at the Gel-Wrist Rest, and the BlueTooth wireless keyboards. I was drawn immediately to the style and compact size of this 5.1 system. My reason for being in the speaker section is that i will being going to mauritius for about 1 month in August.
Summary: Ah !!!!!!!!!
