Decent speakers that could be designed a little better...

Summary: i bought these speakers so my dad would have some better speakers to listen to his music when he is surfing the internet... it works out well for him because he does not need the speakers to be on every time the computer on... as for me i would not be able to use these speakers because it requires you to turn them off and on every time the power gets yanked...
Summary: this speaker system is excellent for the price. The subwoofer pumps out great bass, and the speakers give off crisp sound. If you listen closly you can tell that they struggle slightly at mid range but overall very good sound. The only con. to this system is that they don't have a headphone jack which on most computers doesn't make a difference because of front panel audio but it is still a nice feature.
Summary: Hello, I purchased these speakers at amazon.com for a knockdown holiday sale price of $29.99 (Oct. 2004), they came in today and I tried them with some basic techno, metal and rock music. The sound quality is good. Also, the set up was a breeze, just plugged in the basic items to each other, and the best part was that the power cord doesnt have a large bulky adapter which would have hogged space at the power outlet.
Summary: I bought these speakers with the intent of creating my own little home entertainment center for music (primarily) and for movies. When I heard them at the store (costco) they sounded great except for a little distortion I thought was due to the MP3 player. AFter taking them home and putting them through my rigorous testing process I found that they work great with Earth, Wind and Fire, and reproducing a great acoustic jazz bass sound (I'm a bass player).
Summary: I spent 100bucks and gave it a try after a hour of listening as i was listening it felt as though something was missing in the treble. I don't know what but it felt strange. Well, I returned this and got a Monsoon PlanarAudio 14. No comparison, hands down Monsoon out performed Altec. Its bass were too muffled compared to Monsoon and the highs were harsh, while Monsoon had a round warm sound.
Summary: I bought the 2100 set because it looks very nice, and most of the online reviews said it sounded very good. I reckoned this would be a very sweet package. I'm a little disappointed in the sound quality though. The two sattelites give excellent highs but the midsection is weak. I listen to mostly rock and metal, and often the male voices and guitars sound like they were standing outside the studio screaming in while making the recordings: they are not very present.
