Ups and downs..

  • Summary: Lets be serious people, in the everyday mac world you DO NOT need a virus scan. Only reason i have it is because im in IT and its not uncommon for this computer to have a virus infected HD hooked to it. I take no chances. If your the average user, don't waste your money.
  • Pros: Good update intervals, Keeps me safe from anything that could happen, quick install, the dashboard widget, although useless is a nice attempt.
  • Cons: Slows down startup. Im running a 2.2 core 2 duo with 4 gigs of ram and i do see a difference in the time it takes from sign on to useable desktop. Takes HOURS to scan everything. Granted i have a large HD, but lets be serious now?

Pretty good.

  • Pros: Good if you are looking for a virus scanner for mac. If you are networked with other machines I recommend this just to keep them safe. Also just for the sake of others who have windows Norton 11 will check files for windows viruses and should repair them, so you do not infect any windows machines...
  • Cons: The scanner takes some time to scan the whole machine, but its not really to big of a deal. You only get a one year subscription then you have to renew or upgrade. But at least your kept up to date.
