Horrible Product

Thomas B., Newegg
5 January 2010
  • Summary: DO NOT BUY.
  • Pros: Catches viruses (Sometimes)
  • Cons: This is the worst product I have ever used. The Admin console relies on Java (until the most recent update you had to use an outdated Sun Java version with security flaws) Is exceedingly slow in the admin console, forget about doing anything useful on a wan link. Certain features kill PC performa...

Horrible

James W., Newegg
7 January 2009
  • Summary: 1 isn't a low enough rating for this product. Symantec products have gotten progressively slower and more bloated over the years and it would seem SEP 11 is the culmination of that effort. Buy something else, something that works.
  • Pros: Symantec's brandname?
  • Cons: Management Console is unbelievably slow. Management console user interface is cluttered and very difficult to navigate. Resource hog. Clients randomly stop receiving updates. Help files aren't very helpful at all.

Not ready for release

Werner D., Newegg
30 May 2008
  • Summary: Symantec has the right idea but this product needs much more testing and needs to go on a diet before I even attempt another install.
  • Pros: If / when you can get it work on your network and workstations it should be able to stop a bullet in it's tracks.
  • Cons: I cannot understate how disappointed I am with Symantec over this product. I have used all previous versions and this complete re-write of Antivirus Corporate Edition is far too large, far too slow and faces hardware incompatibilities. Server side can reach 4GB, PC side averages 456 - 835MB. Soft...

symantec loses focus

michael w., Newegg
14 February 2008
  • Summary: after 7 years of symantec i'm off to find a new enterprise security platform
  • Pros: shows some potential but totally fails to deliver.
  • Cons: been using symantec corporate security products for past 8 years. staunchly loyal to symantec all that time despite some issues with the various packages. imagine my horror after deployment of endpoint security... this product seems like a total break from all their previous lines. it's as if it ...

Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 25 User - Retail doesn't come with technical support!

Attn: C., Newegg
18 January 2008
  • Pros: Nice administration of the entire network. Once you have the base system installed, modified AD rights on the server, rebuild group permissions, added IIS users to various groups and modified client firewall settings, it is easy to manage and deploy clients to the network
  • Cons: The server component of this cannot be installed on a standard windows 2003 server w/out major changes to underlying security settings on the server. Unfortunately when you call Symantec technical support you hold times are between 30 to 45 minutes, when you do get through you find out that BECAU...

Stay Away!!

Jim M., Newegg
3 January 2008
  • Summary: Man symantec use to be the best now they are the worst. I wouldn't buy symantec or McAfee's products any more. They have gotten to bloated!
  • Pros: It does protect you but at what cost?
  • Cons: If you are a business I would stay with version 10 as 11 slows your systems down way to much. To bad my end users don't have a choice and don't know but I have removed it from my work machine and put on AVG and its 10X faster. Using this product you will see it using your cps when your computer i...

this is a downgrade

Anonymous, Newegg
21 November 2007
  • Summary: From 9:00 pm to 12:30 am we installed it with over the phone tech support. This time it worked flawlessly. The next morning however was hell. All our pc's were locked again and we set out to uninstall manually. after the uninstall we called back to symantech to see what was wrong and found out.
  • Pros: it comes in a pretty yellow box?
  • Cons: Symantech is a resource hog. and very intrusive. you must install the anti-spyware and the symantech fire wall with this or else it wont work. We installed this on our work server( a fully loaded dell 2900 ) and tried to run it with our retail point of sale software, Retail Pro 8. The first insta...
