DON'T BUY THIS DEFECTIVE GARBAGE!!!
Kenneth H., Newegg

Summary: After getting the run around from a Newegg customer service rep. I'm strongly thinking of NEVER buying anything from this site, ever again. They HAD to have known the product is defective by now. It's nothing short of theft to sell something they know won't work, & will cause damage.
Pros: The worthless (fill in the blank)s that wrote this program probably married fat-N-ugly engineering chicks.
Cons: The worthless garbage wouldn't even install. It did manage to thoroughly screw up my PC's drivers. My monitor is all messed up, now. Watching movies isn't possible, either. Playback gets all garbles. I've no idea how to fix this, now...
Summary: Unlike all of the others comparable products I tried, Sony's demo version is basically the full version, unlocked for 30 days. You can even make a final product, no watermarks on exports, that level of faith in the product helped seal the deal for me.
Pros: • Inexpensive video editing • More powerful than the price would lead one to believe • Short learning curve for the basics • Skills learned will transition well to pro version I'm not much of a fan of Sony, as a corporation. I don't care for some of their prior antics, as such I gave some of the ...
Cons: It would be pretty cool if Vegas Movie Studio made better use out of the GPU, like the newer versions of Vegas Pro, especially for AVCHD live previewing multiple video streams at full resolution. Even though MVS is generally resource efficient, if you have two or three HD streams going at once it...
Cons: It was shiped in some over sided bag, that was crused as if someone jumped on it a few times. I did make sure the DVD disk was okay and it was. I tried installing this program and it would not open on my Win -7 64 bit system, but there is no data on the disk at all.. tried this on a few other PC ...
Pros: POSSIBLY GOOD FOR HOME MOVIES -- I ALREADY WORK IN AVI FILES & DO NOT NEED TO SAVE FILES AS WHAT I HAVE -- WORTH THE $20.00 I PAID
Cons: DOES NOT MAKE A DVD FOR FRIENDS WHO DO NOT HAVE A COMPUTER OR NEWER BLU-RAY ETC PLAYER.. I LEARNED HOW TO COPY AVI'S TO DISKS YEARS AGO. NOT AS GOOD AS FREE STUFF AVAILABLE IN LINUX -- BUT PROBABLY CRACKERJACK FOR WINDOWS.. WHO AM I TO SAY. IF YOU CAN COPY AN AVI OR CAN NOT GET SOME FREE CROSS PL...
Summary: Got a state of the art desktop running Win7-64... Keep getting an apphang error on install. Sez: "Sony Windows installer preloader has stopped working"... Sony techs are all stumped. Spent hours on the phone with them. Has been referred to Sony's Development team to try to figure out.
Pros: Probably many, too bad I will never find out... Neweggs Customer Service is top notch & will accept my return. Just real disappointed in Sony is all!
Cons: Will not install on my Desktop. Does install on my laptop. Too bad I don't have a Blu-Ray burner in my laptop!!!
Not bad, but not for AVI and a long learning curve

Summary: I got this program because my primary video editing program is unable to keep up with playback (60% speed with my 4 GHz i7-2600K processor) for X264-encoded 1080i video. Thus, I got this program and it works well for the editing I do with my Sony-brand HD camcorder that I'm using more often now.
Pros: This program is a good program to accompany a Sony HD camcorder, from those M2TS files it records into. I like how it supports nonnative codecs (I've heard some programs don't). There are plenty of effects you can apply to both video and audio.
Cons: AVI playback is horrible! I can easily play back 1280x960 AVI video at 30 fps in other programs perfectly fine, but this program can't even handle playing 640x448 video at 29.97 fps in real time as the video stops because it oddly can't decompress fast enough or something. At least it compresses ...
Summary: The software itself includes tutorials that you can turn on whenever you want - they place informative "How-To's" around the interface with arrows and highlights to direct you to learn the subject you chose. It's very quick, very informative, very professionally done!
Pros: I tried this suite against Adobe's Affter Effects, which seems to be the industry standard. I'm making CGI episodic movies and I found this suite to be a lot easier to work with and it actually loads and uses sll of the file formats that I use (unlike AE). I haven't written/recorded my score yet,...
Summary: If I just wanted to do ultra basic videos to upload to YouTube, I would not use Vegas. Choose Vegas if you're seriously into video editing and want to use a tool that many pros use.
Pros: The ease of editing is my primary reason for going with Vegas. I've tried several other packages and others either don't have the nice out of the box features, or editing simple tasks requires too many steps. Once you commit to and learn the basics, you're quickly flying in Vegas.
Cons: Takes some dedicated learning time, but other video editing packages are similar unless you're using Windows Movie Maker.
Pros: When it worked it was great. Did what a low costing video editing software should do.
Cons: After a month or so it just stopped working. It won't even let me open the program anymore. All I receive is a "stopped responding" message, then it closes out. I have done everything possible to make this work. uninstall it, reinstall it: didn't work still. Went to SONY, they didn't even respond...
Summary: I have made a complaint to Sony Creative on their facebook page. Sony says the are looking into this. Please go there and let Sony know if you have run into this same rebate problem.
Pros: The software is reasonable and one of the better video editing software products in this price range. But there is a huge problem that ruins the experience of this problem that must be mentioned - atrocious rebate handling.
Cons: I have never downgraded a product because of a problem with rebate processing but in this case I think it is necessary. I and very many others bought this software through New Egg (as opposed to another online store) BECAUSE of the $40 rebate. As pointed out here and many other places on the inte...
