Update

Michael W., Newegg
6 May 2013
  • Summary: I don't know what changes when you run full screen but this definitely needs to be fixed, this is a terrible issue. I bumped it to 3 stars since it does work for the most part on pc and seems like it should work very well on consoles. I bought it for pc though so I will probably get the AVerMedia Live Gamer HD so i can run both of my graphics cards.
  • Pros: Update: -Will record pc gameplay if you run windowed fullscreen -Makes beautiful videos at 15000kbps bitrate, I didn't try lower but I did notice 1500kbps was terrible.
  • Cons: -Everyone that owns two radeon cards and runs crossfire know that if you run windowed it will disable one gpu, so running one card to record sucks.

not quite friendly

Jonathan R., Newegg
22 January 2013
  • Summary: people have been complaining of the delay between live gameplay and what actually gets displayed on their stream - during testing I started out with 5 seconds of delay, but by the time my session ended it was 5 minutes or more - not sure if this is the capture program unable to keep up with transcoding or my upload speed not able to spit out the data to the net fast enough - in any case, due to the work-arounds needed to get things working in proper order you would...
  • Pros: *Capture Quality *Video Throughput (can take in component video and output to HDMI)
  • Cons: *Does not work with OBS *Might not work with Xsplit (unofficial fix may not work) *Capture Program uses over 200,000k system memory when streaming (OBS offers more customization for cheaper process) *Capture Program isn't very robust (no overlay for webcam, Twitch Chat, no mic input except when actively streaming live) *Cannot use HDMI video and RCA audio at the same time

Maybe ok

Valerie S., Newegg

  • Pros: Recording from video games to computer is pretty cool.
  • Cons: There are some odd lines moving up the computer screen when capturing PS3 games, However that might be because we are using extensions on the USB cords. Moving next week where we wont need them and I'll update review about problem.

Quality is okay for the money

Robert S., Newegg
13 April 2011
  • Summary: Hey, it's a consumer piece, and you shouldn't expect more. However, a piece of electronics should never sound like a present you are shaking to figure out what's inside. Hopefully that isn't product design, my particular case is a fluke and you can enjoy yours. Seriously, at it's launch price I'd be on the fence, if you can get it a few bucks cheaper you'll be happy enough, it's a one-stop solution for your consumer level component recording needs.
  • Pros: Well, it does what it should do, records component. I'm not too upset with the fact it's 480p, I knew that going in. It's not a big deal as in a couple years you won't get more than 480i out of component on a HDCP compliant device anyway (even if you keep old devices that do display HD via component content will get restricted to 480i via analog by means of an Image Constaint Token). Not a big deal that this box doesn't do it.
  • Cons: My box rattles. It somehow works, but it rattles. I'm not talking a bit of solder that's rolling around in there like an old NES game, I'm talking like a 1-2oz weight, as if Roxio was dickin' with me and put a steel marble in there. That doesn't inspire much confidence and is quite frankly unacceptable. I don't know if my box is the exception because the thing technically works (for now). Hopefully I can it replaced. I would look inside myself and probably find a stan...

Does NOT capture HD

Daniel W., Newegg
2 April 2011
  • Summary: Sounds like it is probably a good device, if you understand its limitations.
  • Pros: unknown
  • Cons: The details section states , "Save real-time gameplay, even in HD." According to external reviews, this is not true. The device only captures 480p, which does not qualify as HD in my book. Roxio's site does not make this claim. It does have full resolution passthrough to the TV.

Mejor la version más cara que esta.

Aleksandar Kirilov Apostolov, amazon.es
5 November 2011
