Good but not Great

Hi volume Photog, Nikon
1 February 2013
  • Summary: The program works good for batching images & manipulating raw images. However you can not queue multiple batches like the old Nikon Capture & you can NOT transfer the 2(?) licenses from an old computer to a new computer. Nikon forces you to buy another license. :( Customer service also leaves much to be desired.

Not Compatible with Mac LION OS

zjay75, Adorama
28 December 2011
  • Excerpt: WARNING: This software will not load on a new Mac with Lion OS. When I tried to load on Lion OS recieved the message that "PowerPC is no longer supported". Google "Capture NX2 and Apple Lion OS" for more details. Who would have thought that the latest from Nikon is not compatible with the latest from Apple?
  • Cons: Will not load on Mac Lion

good capability, but buggy

ctb, Nikon
9 June 2011
  • Summary: This is the only product associated with Nikon that I'm less than 100% satisfied with. It is buggy, slow, and it crashes. Features work sometimes and not other times. I hoped that buying a completely new copy of the software and installing it on a new Windows 7 computer would fix most problems, it did not. I'll still use it for some work on Nikon Electronic Format files, but I'm switching to Adobe products as my principal tools.

Unable to update Capture NX2 at all!

prophotoman, Nikon
29 May 2011
  • Summary: There is a serious problem with updating my software. I recently had to reload my computer back to the way it was when I received it. I reloaded everything okay and was able to update Windows Vista 64-bit and all my other software. I then loaded my Capture NX2 disc Version 2.0.0. with no problem, but when I click on help, then Update NX2, a message on screen says nothing in the Nikon Message center for update.

Outdated software

jwhcville, Nikon
13 March 2011
  • Summary: Great product in its day but badly needs updating. Crashes and frequently out of memory errors. Nikon School on this product with Ben Long is terrific. Nikon needs to release NX3 quickly or lose a lot of customers to better more current software.

Sometimes crashes in Windows 7 64 bit

Adorama
6 March 2011
  • Excerpt: Sometimes will crash in Windows 7 Ulitmate 64 on i7 Intel processors, especially with larger NEF files of 16+MP cameras where files can grow to around 95MB in TIFFs. Seems written for older x386 systems than newer 64-bit ones. (This is with version 2.2.6).No issues with Adobe CS5 or Lightroom 3.3 in comparison as they seem more suited to 64-bit operating systems and better memory handling.
  • Pros: Accurate Colors and Controls, Easy To Navigate
  • Cons: Freezes or Crashes

Are you kidding me?

Ron, B&H Photo
12 January 2011
  • Excerpt: I've been hearing for some time that for the best Raw conversions photographers should use software specific to the brand of camera(s) he/she uses. In my case, being a Nikon shooter, I thought I'd give Capture NX 2 a try. Well, at this point, I consider it a waste of my money. Perhaps I am doing something wrong. Maybe I'm not seeing the light. But, boy is it sloooow.

User friendly but slow

Jojeda, B&H Photo
19 January 2010
  • Excerpt: I recently purchased Capture NX 2 and It's easy to use. But it runs very slow and sometimes it freezes. I'm not all that happy with this software . If your going to invest on a photo editing software go with Photoshop.
