Excerpt: Use this product for home/work. Really enjoy navigating through the app style interface. Only made it four stars because I know a lot of folks don't like change. I'm always up for a new challenge so I love this product.
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Navigate, Manages Software Collaboration Well, Powerful, Useful Features
Excerpt: Windows 8.1 is OK. The UI is not great but it is usable. On the positive, Win 8.1 is fast, boots fast, and has improved security. Overall, I'm glad I chose 8.1 vs 7. B&H fulfilled my orders super fast. I would definitely use B&H again.
Excerpt: I don't know enough about computers to know why I shouldn't like windows, but I know enough to know I don't like Macs. I use Lightroom, enter Windows. Remember to make a boot disc when you first get your computer, or you'll have to write a review of this or a similar product.
Summary: After being retired from IT for over four years decided to get back into action. The 32 bit version works on a old hp mini, for older machines would not recommend the metro screen, The 64bit version is awesome on new desktops & laptops that I removed XP-Pro, and installed 8.1 from scratch.
Summary: I do like windows 8 but I am very disappointed with the fact that for the price it is only usable on one, yes I said ''ONE" computer! No more using it on two or more of your own personal computers. You have to purchase one for every computer you own!
Summary: While I could not install it, my son who is training in IT could. If you are very good with this kind of thing go for it. My install was from XP to 8.1 which is more difficult. Remember it erases all your data so backup backup backup. Good luck.
Summary: I am impressed how fast Windows 8.1 runs on my old computer, 3ghz Pentium D.. It seems at least 50% quicker than when Windows 7 Premium was installed. I also like how this just installs Windows and no other trial programs, I only have two icons on my desktop. Since I really hate the way Windows 8.1 works I did download "Start is Back", it is a $3 app that makes Windows 8.1 look and feel just like Windows 7, or XP if I chose XP.
Summary: Coming from windows 95 through to windows 7 was a progression. Much of what you had from the former OS continued on. This is different, but not radically so. The start menu takes some getting use to. Things are put in different places then they were, but there not overly hard to find. It took me about an hour to figure where things were placed.
Excerpt: Oem Edition was easy to install. Runs fast, especially if you use an ssd as your main. My current boot up time is under 20 seconds. 8.1 allows you to use the desktop straight away vs the start menu that can be a bit annoying to deal with initially.Only issue I have with this version of windows is that if by some chance an app get corrupted on the registry level, it can be almost impossible to get it working again even when you uninstall and reinstall the program.
