Summary: People are creatures of habit. For decades, microsoft has groomed us with certain functionality. Building on features in some areas, and tweaking or minimizing in others. But the core UI has always stayed essentially the same.
DON'T BOTHER UPGRADING. THIS HAS NOT BEEN THOUGHT OUT AT ALL. PROBLEMS !! PROBLEMS !!!

Summary: This is just a cash grab by the 800 pound gorilla - yeh you know who you are ! Almost everything you've come to appreciate about operating in the Windows world - commonly called Earth - has been buried, mangled and just generally BOTCHED. Want to record a CD or DVD with your burner ?
Summary: I have several systems and enjoy the windows 7 version. Purchased a laptop recently and was loaded with windows 8. To put it bluntly it is a terrible system. To the powers that be you need to understand not everyone wants a tablet with a touch screen.
Summary: wish they would update and make 8.1 do all the things we could do previously, especially sending email sites as attachments, and photos as well.. Lots of complaints and hope they deal with it in updates.....
Summary: I upgraded to windows 8.1 after encountering issues with windows 8. Numerous problems. I apparently had 'administrative' rights yet was unable to perform certain administrative tasks. My backup software would not work. Then I had problems where internet explorer start up, flash, and close.
Summary: While windows 8.1 is much, much, more stable than the glitchey, crash prone windows 8 the inability to boot into safe mode from outside the OS is completely misguided and makes safe mode useless.
Summary: DO NOT BUY save yourself the aggravation... I have huge buyers remorse and I am technology savey... Do not fool yourself, it is not in the same league as Android and Apple... My Samsung Galaxy is way better then my laptop...
Summary: I have had this abhorrent operating system now for six months and after two major issues with it where I have had to wipe the hard drive on my computer I am done with it. Stay away from it if you can. Save yourself alot of anguish and misery and try and stick with Windows7.
