Summary: Before I get into the bad, let me say something good about Office 2010. I like the new format/theme. When it runs it runs great. I am very disappointed with the performance of Office 2010 on my HP Pavilion running Windows 7. I upgraded from Office 2007. I have had nothing but problems with Office 2010. Presently, I get the annoying "Please Wait While Windows configures Office 2010 Single Image" many times during the day.
Pros: Used the Beta version for over a month. Great improvement over 2007 - and combines some of the best of prior versions (2003, etc.) with 2007. Being able to customize the ribbons and the File tab (rather than the MS Button) were Big enhancements.
Cons: Microsoft has decided in the name of "simplifying" to dis loyal customers with no upgrade pricing offered. In light of increasing competition on numerous fronts and challenging economic times, it may not enhance their bottom line. (Note the extreme restrictions on the activation key card.)
Summary: Open source office packs like LibreOffice or OpenOffice has got all the functionality as in Microsoft Office. Only for the look and fill, paying this much of amount is not logical. If the price will be within 5k-7k (including all features like Professional version), then I will think about it. For now I will prefer open source packs. I am ratting it 2 only for the cost...
