Excerpt: I upgraded from Windows XP, 32 bit. The little LapLink transferred I could easily have done manually. Many of my programs were 32 bit and won't run natively under Windows 7. However, if LapLink had transferred them properly they would have been run in XP mode. When I called support they answered quickly but were not helpful. She simply reiterated that LapLink would not transfer 32 bit apps. End of story. Don't waste your money.
Cons: Software is designed for home use. When moving domain users to new systems, it missed the permissions and settings despite being hooked to the domain prior to running the software. The software gives you the option to create a new domain user when moving the files and I did so but it dropped so many settings. So I call their advertised 24/7 support line just for LapLink PC Mover Pro.... and they inform me that line is for home users only. They give me another number t...
Can't connect to laplink.com; can't get phone help.

Pros: Heard good things about it.
Cons: I got this to transfer files to a new laptop (both Win 7). For three days I was unable to to connect to laplink.com, with three computers and three browsers. That was necessary to enter the serial number and use the program.
Cons: I bought this from Dell with a new laptop. It's necessary to connect to laplink.com to enter the serial number and activate the product. I tried over a three-day period to connect and failed. Spent hours with Laplink support in India and here to no avail. Left phone number with Laplink in US three days ago and have not been called back. spent a half-hour with Wildblue support, no help.
Summary: All the hyperbole says it's an easy, pain free migration. I was upgrading from a Windows XP 32 bit machine to a new machine running Windows 7 64 bit. The transfer hosed Windows Installer (at least) and now nothing will update. The drivers for most of the hardware, including the DVD won't/can't load so I can`t even do a Windows reload. I'll have to start over with a clean install and manually migrate.
Pros: None I can think of.
Cons: It transferred everything over but hosed the Windows 7 64 bit OS in the new machine.
Summary: I work with a Fortune 200 company and we were more than happy to try to get this to work.
Pros: Is able to migrate some machines and applications from Windows XP to Windows 7.
Cons: Microsoft has a free tool to transfer people from machine to machine and from Win XP to Win 7. Laplink claims that it can rewrite the application on the fly to support whichever model is needed but it just picks up a folderr location and registry entry and throws it int he new OS. If it sticks, great! If no, not PCMover's fault.
