Summary: For the occasional unzip, I see no advantage for paying yearly for this, when you can do just as well for a free competing version. Sure, Winzip may do some things others don't do, or don't do as well, such as creating archives, etc, but I, and many others don't concern themselves with this nowadays...
Pros: Great unzipper, and I've used this for years since the 80's. I've never purchased a copy, because once upon a time, when the trial period ended you could continue using it. Now however, you cannot. So I've moved on to something else where I'm not having to uninstall/reinstall every 30 days. I jus...
Summary: I finally upgraded from an old Winzip 9 corporate version that I had been using, and surprisingly enough, this version is faster and has more to offer. To me, it works better than the other so called "Free" versions that another reviewer referred to.
Pros: Price was excellent on sale. It's Winzip, and the latest version with all the perks. Simple to use interface that has been improved upon.
Cons: It's not free, but works better than the "free" versions despite what other people say.
Summary: They make it as easy for beginners as they do for us experienced users so the newbies aren't intimidated and the long-time users don't feel talked down to. Very satisfied.
Pros: I've been using Winzip, well, forever it seems but finally broke down and bought it to make myself legal. I've always been satisfied with Winzip but the user interface is getting better all the time.
Summary: I have not used the Courier option yet, but it appears (in Outlook) like I just add my attachments and click one button in the ribbon bar to compress
Pros: There are a lot of zipping and compression options, such as splitting zip files by size. It zips and unzips very quickly and the context menu options make it that much faster. If you have used Winzip in the past, not much on the GUI has changed which makes upgrading seamless
Summary: I have been using WinZip for years, and thought the trial version was all I needed. It is so much easier owned, and the Courier 3.0 program makes Email with the features so easy. Being a PC builder there are often files to UnZip. WinZip is easy to use. One Click UnZip, nice.
Pros: Courier 3.0 is a great addition. Reliable as always. $60 worth of retail programs for $19.99... go NewEgg. When NewEgg has a sale, it's always a great deal.
Cons: My only con is all the years, I used it as a free 'Evaluation' version. Install, uninstall and reinstall.. too much work. Didn't but more copies while on sale. I will buy for other family PC's, when on sale again.
Summary: The interface has moved in the wrong direction. As far as handling archive files, WinZip does the job well.
Pros: As a long time user (and early donater) of WinZip, the product is what it is, and does what it does, very well.
Cons: However, ever since WinZip has changed ownership, the product has evolved in a direction that is offensive. This particular purchase was made to get the CD, in hopes that one could simply install the product, with the enclosed key. Very surprised to see that an email address was required. Even Mi...
