Corel PaintShop Pro X4 review
3 November 2011
Summary: PaintShop Pro X4 has lots of image editing tools, many of which I found useful. But despite the revamped interface the application still seems to take the "Wall of Sound" approach, including as many features as possible, when I think many people would prefer a more streamlined version that's easier to use.
Conclusion: PaintShop Pro continues to pile on the photo-editing goodies, but even with 64-bit support, it still feels slow compared with competitors.
Pros: Inexpensive. Lots of powerful effects and editing tools. Face recognition. Geo-tagging with maps. Tutorials. Fine plugins included with the Ultimate edition. Improved interface. Good assortment of vector drawing tools. 64-bit operation.
Cons: Still too slow. Weak importing functionality.
Excerpt: PaintShop Pro X4 is overflowing with both new and enhanced features. Replacing PaintShop Photo Pro X3, and now omitting the word "Photo" in its title, Corel PaintShop Pro X4 seeks to address the issues raised by its predecessor's users, who delivered a mixed response thanks to issues with both stability and performance.
Excerpt: We reviewed the more expensive Corel PaintShop Pro X4 Ultimate, which comes on two discs with the first disc holding X4 and the second Nik Color Efex Pro 3, royalty free images from Fotolia and a collection of picture tubes.
Summary: Professionelle Bildbearbeitung verspricht die kanadische Softwarefirma Corel mit PaintShop Pro X4. Das Bildretusche- und Montageprogramm bietet in der seit dem 7. September 2011 ausgelieferten Version eine deutliche Performance-Optimierung.
