Corel Painter 12

MyMac
6 October 2011
  • Excerpt: In my time at MyMac.com I have had the pleasure of being given the opportunity to test several of the past versions of Corel Painter and Painter Essentials. I have said the following in past reviews, and it is worth saying again. Instead of releasing a new Painter every year, Corel waits at least two years between releases and when they release a new version they pack it with new features. Painter 12 follows this pattern. It is packed with new features.

  • Summary: With a raft of workflow enhancements from the moment the user creates a new canvas, and with improved operating system compatibility more akin to the usability of Photoshop, everything points towards Painter 12 being a substantial update and well worth considering an upgrade.

Corel Painter 12

PC Magazine
18 October 2009
  • Conclusion: At more than $400, Corel Painter 12 isn't for lightweights. But serious creative professionals, concept artists, and semi-professional hobbyists won't find a better program for showing off their creative talent.
  • Pros: Best program at mimicking real-world properties of paint and canvases on screen. New kaleidoscope tool lets neophytes make stunning art before they're fully proficient with the software.
  • Cons: Remains sluggish at times, despite performance improvements. Steep learning curve for new adopters.

Digital Arts
9 November 2012
  • Excerpt: The world of digital painting tends to be split between those in the Photoshop camp and those who prefer real natural media effects and use Painter.
  • Pros: New watercolour flowmaps; brush types miles ahead of Photoshop’s
  • Cons: Steep learning curve; unintuitive interface

  • Summary: One reason I like Corel products is that they are intuitive another is they give you printed documentation. To be fair it’s a Getting Started Guide but as that is a 124 page hard back book you start to see this is not a trivial package.

  • Conclusion: Improved interface, brush handling and a few new creative effects; it’s still the best, but Painter is largely trading on existing strengths

Corel Painter 12 review

Digital Arts
13 June 2011
  • Excerpt: Long-favoured by digital artists with a penchant for realistic painterly (and other natural media) techniques, the burning question is does this latest iteration represent a good enough reason for existing users to upgrade, and will the improved features encourage new users to incorporate Painter into their creative workflow?
  • Pros: Improved Photoshop-style interface; enhanced workflow and shortcuts to key tools; brushes can be adjusted more efficiently
  • Cons: Performance has been improved but some functions still feel on the slow side; still a lot for new users to take in

Corel Painter 12 SP1 im Test

pc-magazin.de
11 December 2011

Produkttest: Corel Painter 12 – Teil 2

CyberBloc
6 December 2011
