WordPerfect Office X3

CNET
12 September 2007
  • Summary: Corel WordPerfect Office X3 is a very good productivity suite with enough enhancements to warrant an upgrade. Microsoft Office users, though, should wait for Microsoft Office 12.
  • Pros: Costs less than Microsoft Office 2003; Quattro Pro gets PDF export; WordPerfect strips metadata from documents and adds Yahoo Web search.
  • Cons: PDF-import feature needs work; no free phone support.

WordPerfect Office Small Biz Edition 12.0

CNET
15 April 2007
  • Summary: WordPerfect Office 12 Small Business Edition is an affordable productivity suite with a powerful set of core applications--a good buy for smaller companies that don't import a lot of Microsoft Office documents.
  • Pros: The new e-mail client, image editor, and business templates complement Corel's strong set of productivity programs.
  • Cons: Some programs, including Paint Shop Pro 9 and Task Manager, could be better integrated with the rest of the suite. Suite doesn't include the new Paint Shop Pro X.

Good Gear Guide.au
17 September 2007
  • Summary: Price-conscious buyers are more likely to look at completely free competitors such as OpenOffice.org and IBM Symphony. Nevertheless, WordPerfect keeps its best features and adds enough new ones to keep current users satisfied - and its increased compatibility with Microsoft Office is worth the upgrade fee.
  • Pros: Good compatibility with Microsoft Office documents and other formats (including ODF), ability to edit PDFs, usual WordPerfect features such as Reveal Codes, interface consistent with previous versions, optical character recognition for PDFs that contain scanned-in images of text
  • Cons: Not that much cheaper than Microsoft Office, PDF editing useful for rescuing text but probably not much more than that, Quattro Pro can't compete with Excel 2007's charts, irritating features such as its inability to have more than nine documents open at once

  • Cons: CorelCentral 10 is a gadget, Corel Presentations 10 doesn't present enough new features, Quattro Pro 10 GUI isn't adapted at all to Windows XP
