Upgrades ... Or the tech-world's way to keep its hands in our wallets?
7 March 2014
Summary: CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 - I had to buy this program as part of an upgrade for my graphics business. It was a critical component because my lower versions of Corel will not operate in my new Windows 7 computer. It's all part of the tech world's 'fix & break & fix & break' way of doing business. The entire upgrade will cost over $25 hundred, all so I can maintain full access to the web. Otherwise, my current system and programs were working just fine.
Pros: this home & student version of CorelDraw X6 installed on Windows 8.1 without a single problem. I have no idea why "N/A" had trouble, but I certainly did not. The software installs and runs very well on Win7 Pro and Win8.1 - both 64 bit operating system installs. The "3 computer" license is a real plus.
Summary: This is a full featured suite that rivals the competition.
Pros: Corel Draw X6 is a great illustrator/CAD program. I have used it to make technical drawings since its Micrografx days which was over 15 years ago. I also use it to teach a high school computer aided art class. The students love its results.
Cons: I have not found any cons with this program. There are online tutorials and workshops available for beginners and advanced users to help you max out their power.
