Summary: It's the best program for building things in 2D. The more keyed shortcuts you know, the faster the program works. The dxf export works in other 3D apps, including Houdini 12, giving you more of an actual choice in how you model.
Pros: More responsive than AutoCAD Exports working files to 3D programs like Houdini It's extremely fast at building a 2D CAD design
Cons: Not 3D a grand for 2D Autodesk always outdates their format every 2 years... that is, the default Autodesk format won't work with the older version
Summary: I am a user of both AutoCad 14 and AutoCad Lite 98 and I find that they are virtually interchangeable for most architectural drafting tasks of day to day use. One costs ten times as much as the other, and to equip multiple seats it seems needlessly wasteful to buy anything but the less costly of...
Summary: This CAD package was developed in Tualatin, OR. by Ketiv Technologies (www.ketiv.com) in partnership with Autodesk TM. I believe that this software in the next 3 years will replace all the major CAD packages currently on the market.
Pros: The ease of use and the intelligence of this software is amazing.
Cons: The ability to edit the paper output...but its getting better with each release.
Summary: Considering the full blown Autocad 2009 is $3500 on sale this is a real bargain. Gotta love Newegg...
Pros: Autocad is the standard for most all drafting applications in all types of business. Autocad LT is a fully functional version that only lacks some 3D functionality but still has more tools than you will know what to do with...
Cons: Some people dont take the time to actually learn how the software works and write bad reivews because of their lack of understanding. This is not a Mario Bros. game. This is a real world program. Take the time to learn how to use it.
Summary: Great drafting software that makes it easy to put your designs on paper. It has a bit of a steep learning curve but once you lear how to use it noting comes close. New UI is fantastic and a very nice upgrade from previous versions.
Pros: Fantastic user interface, tons of features, easy setup for printing and publishing drawings, imports a number of formats from competing products.
Excerpt: I was introduced to autocad 10 months ago. Although I always had it installed on my computer I would never touch it. After deciding that making changes in hand drawings is the most time-consuming and nerve wrecking procedure I bought an excellent book on Autocad, and followed each tutorial.
Excerpt: I have been using AutoCad 14 and all of a sudden, version 2000 came. I started using it but I don't find much advantages using the new comer. I don't use it often though, but these are the extra features that I discovered as compared to AutoCad R14.
Excerpt: As a Mechanical Engineer, I must able to produce formal engineering drawing. Thus, I would like to grab this opportunity and strongly recommend one of my favourite software to all of you, AUTOCAD 2000.
