Summary: I am a user of both AutoCad 14 and AutoCad Lite 98 and I find that they are virtually interchangeable for most architectural drafting tasks of day to day use. One costs ten times as much as the other, and to equip multiple seats it seems needlessly wasteful to buy anything but the less costly of these two versions of this program for this purpose. Autodesk charges about $500.00 for AutoCad Lite 98; I purchased my copy at Egghead.com for $349.00.
Excerpt: I was introduced to autocad 10 months ago. Although I always had it installed on my computer I would never touch it. After deciding that making changes in hand drawings is the most time-consuming and nerve wrecking procedure I bought an excellent book on Autocad, and followed each tutorial. In the first day I could do all the basics, the second day I understood further the commands and went a step further.
Excerpt: AutoCad is notoriously a difficult program to learn, unless you have specialised training. In AutoCad LT200i, there have been numerous benefits made to the program. Firstly, it is now possible to open more than one window at a time (why was this not possible before?). Actually viewing the different line thicknesses on screen is also a great benefit.
Excerpt: As you are probably aware, there are literally tons of different versions of AutoCAD to choose from. AutoCAD LT97 is purely the version that I’m using at the moment and for your typical tech. drawing office duties, I can’t think of a better package for the price. I have worked with numerous versions myself (starting with release 11) and I have also encountered release 14 and AutoCAD 2000.
Excerpt: I have been using AutoCad 14 and all of a sudden, version 2000 came. I started using it but I don't find much advantages using the new comer. I don't use it often though, but these are the extra features that I discovered as compared to AutoCad R14. a) it tracks to the nearest snaps b) a huge windows would appear when you try to modify a property of a line/ object. I find this very irritating.
Excerpt: Probably the best drawing sowtware avaailable at the moment. It is expensive but probably worth every penny. It has all the basic functions and all the advanced functions for when you become more confident with it. It doesn't take long to produce 3d and 2d objects. In the program there is an extremely useful help file which tells you everything you could possibly want to know. One thing with autocad you have got to be dedicated to it.
Excerpt: It is the greatest piece of drawing software about. It is quite expensive but worth it. It has all the basic functions and all the advanced functions. It doesn't take long to produce 3d and 2 objects. In the program there is a brilliant help file which tells you everything you need to know. One thing with autocad you have goto be dedicated. There are also samples which show what can be produce some are very stunning. It has great 3d rendering facilites.
Excerpt: As a Mechanical Engineer, I must able to produce formal engineering drawing. Thus, I would like to grab this opportunity and strongly recommend one of my favourite software to all of you, AUTOCAD 2000. Basically,Autocad 2000 is the well designed architecture software, it allows user to draw varies shape of the 2D-3D objects in very precise location. For a software naive user like me, it just took me 1/2 day to learn all the basic commands.
