Buyer Beware

  • Summary: You are better off staying away form this puppy. I purchased this before doing any research as an option when purchasing a new computer. I have found that your keyword searches don't work if they were not entered during import. If you reference you images stored on DVD/CD's it does not recognize that the disc is in. If you shoot in raw forget about having you xml data that already exists.

"Package type is a folder, Raw updates"

  • Summary: Just to fix an inaccuracy. Packages are a special type of folder. You can actually view it's hiererachal contents, when you right click and select Show Package contents. So this isn't in any way a monolithic file. It's just a way for Apple to keep the folders and files together and neatly organized. Aperture relies on the RAW capabilities of OS X Tiger (10.4). So make sure you stay current (today it's at 10.4.5).

User Review

  • Summary: The product is good, but in -pricing terms an object lesson in lock-in. Expect to pay 2-3x more than the normal standalone price for plug-in's . Once you've brought aperture, 3rd party upgrades are vital to have functionality anything like photoshop and Apple absolutely screw you for these. My advice is to buy photoshop even if you are a mac owner.
