Acronis True Image Home 2009

PC Magazine
11 September 2009
  • Conclusion: Acronis True Image Home 2009 is full-featured and slick-looking, but our tests indicate that it's to be used with extreme caution until the company gets the bugs ironed out.
  • Pros: Flexible, full-featured backup program. Options to back up specific categories of files.
  • Cons: Advanced features rendered our Windows XP test system unbootable. File-selection bug can thwart backups of files you explicitly select for backup. Confusing messages.

Acronis has finally done something about the ode-to-redundancy interface that’s been the fly in the otherwise excellent True Image ointment.

  • Summary: Basically, the best just got better. Whether the advanced features in True Image Home 2009 are worth paying for when a free competitor such as Paragon's Drive Backup Express is on the loose — well, that's for you to decide.
  • Pros: Fast, reliable, feature-packed
  • Cons: Still some minor glitches
