Excerpt: A budding development team--let's call them ACE Team--cracked open a long sealed vault. Covered from head to toe in myriad spider webs, caked dust and grime, wrapped in a holey blanket of leather and denim, lay a long forgotten cadaver: the brawler genre. One amongst them smiled and said, "Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology!
Excerpt: The Good : Wonderful artistic graphics of a bizarre and enchanting world. The Bad : Combat gets monotonous after awhile The Ugly : Utterly incomprehensible plot Woo, this is a weird one all right. Often I can dig deep into my gaming history and say that this game is like that other one, and people who had played that other game would have a good idea of what I’m talking about. Not this time. Not really. Zeno Clash is essentially an FPS combat game.
Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is Where do we begin, it takes a huge leap of faith to do something as drastically different with the FPS genre as ACE Team has done with Zeno Clash. Over the years people have been deeply engrained with how an FPS should feel and play like. You have your Halos, Call of Dutys, Medal of Honors, Battlefields, Killzone 2, Unreal Tournaments, Gears of War, Resistance, and countless other shooters all basically designed with the same idea in mind...

This indie game developed by ACE TEAM has been granted many awards and was a finalist in the Independent Game Festival. Is this game really the gem people make it out to be?
Excerpt: Zeno Clash is an independent, PC-only first-person beat ‘em up, released for digital download on Steam and Direct2Drive. It was created by Chilean studio Ace Team, and has turned many heads even prior to its release, its hype (for lack of a better word) driven by its completely original world design and aesthetic appeal, and only secondarily by the fairly innovative gameplay idea of a first-person beat ‘em up.
Excerpt: For years now, we've heard Valve Software talk about the benefits of bringing the Steam platform and the Source engine to independent developers, allowing them to fully integrate the latest features they've implemented - like achievements, modding capabilities, and community integration - into upcoming independent games. So far, we've seen this mostly materialize in third-party Source engine mods, but now we're seeing it in actual fully-fledged games.
