  • Summary: Xcom Enemy Within is an updated version of Enemy Unknown. Enemy Within greatly improves on the somewhat simpler version of Xcom that was Enemy Unknown. The series, for those unfamiliar with it, is based on leading a secret covert operations group, known as Xcom, as it attempts to secretly defend earth from an alien invasion. The game does allude to all of this being top secret, which Xcom Enemy Within is an updated version of Enemy Unknown.

  • Summary: Ignore the 5 (as of now) negative reviews. They are fake! The problem with metacritic is that anyone can leave a review, even if they don't own the game or if they have a slander-agenda (think competing companies). This game is one of the best on the iOS store. Fans of the vanilla game have long wanted the expansion content on the iPad and now we have it. Due to the iOS regulations, it Ignore the 5 (as of now) negative reviews. They are fake!

  • Summary: It's basically a good game but if you already have Enemy Unknown not really worth it. The plot is 90% exactly the same. They added a little chrome with a splinter faction of agents you have to fight occasionally but they're easy fights and the basic plot and encounters from are the same from the previous game.

  • Summary: I was a huge fan of XCom: Enemy Unknown and the new XCom is a huge step up. The new missions, technologies and enemies work great on the iPad. Also the new version seems less crash-prone on my iPad Air versus the original so that's also a plus. For people who have never played before, XCom is a unique tactical combat game with no peer.

  • Summary: Though it may be obvious to some, this does not include the original game and is unplayable by itself. This being the case, it really should explicitly state this fact, if nowhere else but in the "requirements" section in its amazon description. My copy in particular came in a box that looked like it had been ran over by a train.

  • Summary: Yes, I played the original, yes, I bang on about it. I can't see how a better job of 'updating' the game could have been done. The same sense of panic, chaos, command incompetence, lives needlessly thrown away...The only development in gaming since the 90's has been in atmospherics and cinematics, but just look at the wool on Central Officer Bradford's jumper! Look at those birds Yes, I played the original, yes, I bang on about it.

Didn't really see a big difference in game play or story.

RPGSD, Amazon

  • Summary: For the price paid (back when it wasn't a sale item), felt that it didn't really add that much to the experience. A couple cutscenes and some different gear. Didn't really extend the story or even game play much.
