Worms 4: Mayhem

NowGamer

  • Conclusion: Not a great singleplayer experience here, but then again, no-one has really come to expect that from Worms. The fact is that when played with friends (or if you’re Will, acquaintances) Mayhem comes into its own and becomes a highly recommended multiplayer title.

Worms 4: Mayhem Review

VideoGamer.com

  • Excerpt: There must have been a point ten years ago when worms around the world decided that they had had enough of being the playthings of choice for sadistic toddlers. No longer content with their lives (being split in half doesn't help relationships), they looked for a purpose to go on; a reason to keep living. That reason, rather surprisingly, came in the form of high-powered, high-explosive weapons.

Worms 4: Mayhem

  • Conclusion: It's not necessarily a bad thing to stick to a proven formula--as Worms does--but there at least has to be some reason to keep playing each new installment of the franchise. Even though it's being offered at a budget price, there just isn't any reason to play Worms 4: Mayhem if you've played either of the last two games in the series. If you've never played a 3D Worms game, this is as good a place as any to start.
  • Pros: Some of the new and returning weapons are fun, like the Concrete Donkey, Mission design in story mode is unique and interesting at times.
  • Cons: Nothing much has changed since the previous two 3D Worms games, Frustrating platforming stages in story mode, Explosions and effects seem weak by Worms' standards, You constantly have to fumble with the camera, Inconsistent AI.

Game Freaks 365

  • Excerpt: So here we are, at another review of just another Worms game, right? Wrong. With a ton of new features, new weapons and new looks, this game is far from just a sequel to add to the ever-growing series. In case you don’t know what Worms is (where have you been since ’95?), it’s a strategy game. Not just any strategy game, but one where you play as worms, at war. The objective of a normal game is simply to kill all of the other teams’ worms.

  • Excerpt: Unless you have been in a cocoon for the last twenty years, you will be aware of the Worms universe to some degree. This franchise has become a part of gaming history and started with the insanely popular and simple 2D wormfest that millions of people devoured in their gaming droves.

  • Excerpt: When Worms 3d was released a couple of years ago many saw that waiting for Team 17 to make their first 3d worms was well worth it, even though many said they preferred the 2d games more. Worms Forts on the other hand was not received as well as its predecessor, having to build forts and destroy your opponents at the same, time took away the quick pick up and play factor of the previous titles.
