  • Summary: Although it may be one of the most original concepts developed recently, Prisoner of War is lacking in several areas that substantially degrade the overall experience.

The Great Escapes

GIN
17 December 2002
  • Excerpt: To me Prisoner of War was marketed as a cross between the movie Stalag 17 and the TV show Hogan’s Heroes for the computer. As a fan of both, when I saw that it was coming out, I ran to my editor and begged to be the reviewer.

The suspenseful sneaking gameplay and strong dose of character interaction make Prisoner of War a game that's by all means different from most others out there.

GameSpot
7 October 2002
  • Summary: The idea of being trapped in a Nazi prison camp probably doesn't sound very good, but the idea of busting out of one possibly might. Escape is the goal in Prisoner of War, a short but original and often entertaining adventure game that challenges you to free yourself from the clutches of the Germans...

Prisoner of War

ActionTrip
25 September 2002
  • Conclusion: To put it briefly, Prisoner of War is a very good 3rd person sneaker filled with action, suspense, and with enough missions to hold you attention for several days. The game requires you to burn a few brain cells, by utilizing Stone's skills the best possible way in order to escape from a camp.
  • Pros: Good story. The mission structure is excellent. Using tactics and sneaking skills against the powerful AI is quite a challenge;
  • Cons: Can get a tad too challenging for an average gamer. Poor textures and reflections in the background. Repetitive skins on the German guard models. Bad voiceovers of German soldiers. Control and camera issues take some getting use to.

  • Conclusion: The further you get into the game obviously the harder things become, its when things started getting extremely difficult that we decided that this game really isn't for us, we just don't get along with stealth games all that well!

Jade Empire Special Edition

Game Review Database
24 September 2008

Prisoner of War

PC GURU
9 April 2004
  • Excerpt: A II. világháború történéseit számtalan fejlesztő feldolgozta már, ám a hadifogságba esett katonák életéről eddig nem sok játék emlékezett meg. A Rail Simulatorról elhíresült brit Kuju Entertainment brightoni illetőségű stúdiója, a Wide Games ezt a hiányosságot igyekszik pótolni.
  • Pros: + hiánypótló játékötlet, + hangok, + történet
  • Cons: - csúnya grafika, - akadozó irányítás, - ellaposodó játékmenet

Prisoner Of War

Tom's Games
15 November 2002
