The World of Goo awaits those willing to take on the challenge, but is it worth your money? As is often a problem for independent developers, even those who have a fabulous product, it can be very difficult to pierce the market and get the word out about their fabulous product. World of Goo is just such a fabulous product and despite some pretty rave previews and now rave reviews has still gone largely unnoticed. Read more
Some games are made to be easy to pick up and play so that anyone can quickly get stuck in and start having fun. Other games are necessarily more complex, requiring detailed controls or play styles to be learned before the, often deeper game, opens up and starts rewarding the gamer for all that effort. Smaller niggles are occasional interface problems (selecting the right goo ball can be a pain which is at times just a part of gameplay but another strike against the OCD fun) as well as resolution problems, and the fact that the game is rather short. Like Portal, it can be finished in a few hours, but (like Portal) this doesn't hurt the game's value all that much, because it's just that much fun. Read more
If a game has caused great expectations in recent months that has been World of Goo, which looks very simplistic and terribly addictive concept has managed to woo users of all ages. For a year in game time, the squishy critters in World of Goo are the objects of your care, your hopes and your grief; you won't soon forget them. There is a great on-line community, and the ability to create your own custom levels to post and share, as well as download levels created by others. Read more
I played their demo recently, and though the game's slick graphics, story, art, etc. blew me away, the physics system did throw me off a bit and had me stuck in the first chapter. At the chance to buy the game at a cent, I decided to actually invest time in the game. It is an absolute joy to see yourself figuring out how to beat puzzles that can seem so hard! A very well-designed game. Read more or see product
This is a great all ages game! I hope there is a sequel, or even a continuation of this theme in their next game. I will be looking forward to seeing what they come up with next! Read more
