The game itself though, is not a true real time strategy game. Perhaps it's just the strategy purist in me, but when I think of this genre, I think of heavy hitters like Starcraft, Warcraft, Total Annihilation, and more currently Dawn of War, Company of Heroes and even Supreme Commander. These games present you with the ability to amass and army of more than five units, study your playing field, and choose the most advantageous method of attack to defeat your enemy. What... Read more
World in Conflict deserved all of the recognition that it received, and it remains a wonderful title. The inclusion of the Soviet missions is nice but isn’t so compelling that the six campaign missions and two multiplayer maps make Complete Edition a definite buy for those who already own World in Conflict. If you skipped over the original release, and don’t mind your strategy titles more bang-bang than cerebral, then I definitely recommend checking out World in... Read more

The idea was to cut out the whole base-building platform and allow the player to focus more on “ground-zero warfare”. A strategy game without bases might seem... Read more
New publisher Ubisoft's (the game and Swedish developer Massive Entertainment were picked up by the French company following the dissolving of previous publisher Sierra) decision to release the "expansion" in two ways: as an online download (£9.99 on Steam) and bundled with the original game as the Complete Edition, almost vindicates this criticism. Is Soviet Assault worth £9.99? For avid fans of the original, probably. What's of more value is the total Complete... Read more
World in Conflict's single-player campaign has plenty of polish, but it won't tax most players' tactical abilities or attention spans: its fourteen missions can be completed in well under an hour each. And its simple hit point system for all vehicles pales in comparison to complex ballistic and armor modeling setups in other recent strategy games. On the other hand, its multiplayer system offers fast-paced strategic action balanced for rich team play. Get the game, find... Read more
