Summary: I would've given this game a 7.5 but I decided to round up to 8 to satisfy Metacritic. Finally, after completing both story lines in the game, I feel I'm ready to write my review. Don't let anyone fool you: this game is not an old school shooter. Return to Castle Wolfenstein was the last Wolfenstein title that could ever claim go be old school.
Summary: Well, as you may have guessed this is a game where you shoot evil Germans in the face with all sorts of weapons. What it does better than games that have come before it however is that it allows for modern game design while remembering its retro roots. There ARE health packs and armor to acquire in this, you can dual-wield nearly every weapon in the game (including automatic shotguns), and (SPOILER ALERT) you shoot Nazis on THE MOON!

Summary: This game is incredible. It is fast paced, gorgeous, immersive, addicting, challenging, and truly revamped the Wolfeinstein series. If you want a first person shooter then buy it and don't waste any more time thinking about it.
Summary: I've been a shooter fan since the early days of Call of Duty and the original Wolfensteins, and the genre has become a lot more sophisticated over the past 10+ years as we all know. Sophisticated as in more realistic AI, and moving from very linear options to more sandbox-type playability as in GTA or Far Cry for example.
