Summary: I am personally a huge fan of the Wolfenstein series, mainly because I love to learn about WWII, although we all know the supernatural warfare was fake Hitler did in fact researched stuff like that so books and games like this are always interesting. So ofcourse I got the game tried it out and was pretty dissapointed. The cutscene graphics were amazing, the weapons were true to the war execpt of course the advanced ones, the ability to upgrade them was deffinetly a plus.
Summary: Ever since I had seen the game in development, I have been excited for it. It is a series that started a lot for the FPS genre but after this outing I have only come to realize that even the best things don't last. The gameplay is solid, the controls are easy to pickup and go with veteran FPS fans. The in-game graphics are crisp and shiny, the interfaces lack any kind of in-depth helpful information of the surrounding areas.
Summary: Great graphics and story-line! For me, a tougher-than-usual game to play (you can't "SAVE" when you want) but well-done. Probably requires a lot of play time to finish. Great choice of vintage WW2 weapons plus some sci-fi types and you can even utilize magic.
Summary: I have been playing the Wolfenstein franchise since the "3D" days in the early 90s. I had heard some poor reviews of this one, but went for it anyway. As someone who is mostly into the single player side of games, I think it rocks. If you liked Return to Castle Wolfenstein, then I would recommend this as well.
Excerpt: "Wolfenstein was a highly anticipated game and to say the truth is not a bad game. You are the american agent Blazkowicz that travels to Germany during the World War II to investigate some nazi activities near the german city of Isenstadt. Your goal is of course killing nazis and investigate their sites. The great about the wolfenstein series is that as the game advances you've being inroduced to more special enemies sometimes with paranormal abilities ...
Pros: Fast paced action, nice weapons and abilities great atmosphere lots of blood .
Cons: Did not like the equipment - buing - upgrading system between the stages .
Excerpt: "Wolfenstein 3D is generally considered to be the first real first-person shooter. Released by ID software in 1992, the game takes place during World War II, and the player assumes the role of Allied prisoner of war B.J Blascowicz, a no-nonsense tough-nut solder, tasked with escaping from Castle Wolfenstein by any means necessary. The player must dispatch hordes of Nazi soldiers using an admittedly short array of weapons; In total, a knife, a pistol, ...
Pros: an important game, lots of charm, lots of cool nazi stuff, precursor to DooM, nostalgic .
Cons: too old to properly play, repetitive, dull after a while .
Excerpt: "Back in 1992, when home PCs were steam-powered and 4mb of RAM was an unheard of extravegance, ID software released a little game called 'Wolfenstein 3D', an early first person shooter in which the player took the role of one BJ Blaskowitz, a grizzled US marine who found himself kept prisoner in the bowels of an ancient German castle under Nazi control, with the task of fighting his way through wave after wave of Nazi guards, elite troops and even ...
Pros: Good for a quick nostalgic blast, full of character
Cons: Very dated, repetitive, unlikely to hold attention for very long
Summary: Wolfenstein 3D was quite possibly one of the greatest early 90s PC games ever. Developed by the same team who brought us DOOM, this surpasses DOOM mainly due to the fact that it it involves World war two and that combined with a video game is what every teenage boy wants! Most people will have played the public domain version which is the first scenario. If you wanted the full game, you would have to send off for, but it was rarely available in the UK.
Conclusion: Wolfenstein is another one of those games that I like to call a 'flawed gem'. It is an excellent game but has some bad points that stop it from being a perfect game. First off I am not a true hardcore Wolfenstein fan as the only other game I've played in the series is 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein'. This new Wolfenstein is a wonderfully done game, the graphics look and style of the game is perfect.
Conclusion: Don't think, just shoot. It's that simple. Decient GFX, a plot thats a bit silly, special powers that are nothing you haven't seen before and one of the best pick up and play games this year. If you just want to shoot stuff and have a blast then this game will suit you. Don't expect any challenging puzzels or real open world exploration, just have fun.
