Good quality discs

  • Summary: This PC version is very much in line with the versions on other platforms. It uses the Season Eight rules along with the new money tree that was introduced during the second week. Game plays pretty much similar to screen - no ask the expert lifeline. I'd be curious to know the calculation of the audience and phone a friend lifelines - ATA quite often gets it wrong in the middle tier of questions. No lifeline stings however. Also...

Fun Game

Colleen Smith, Amazon
10 November 2010
  • Summary: Had no trouble at all installing this game - very easy. Simple to use and fun to play. Questions were 2010 and up to date and have not seen repeats (so far) after playing many times. Ony criticism would be that they talk too much in some areas and ask you twice (which is annoying) if you are sure you want to exit etc.

Build up your general knowledge

  • Excerpt: "I bought this game on PC, the game only took a few minutes to install. The game is fun and very entertaining. The game is just like the TV version and the animation of the set is very good and the tone of Chris Tarrant's questioning is just like the real programme. The tension can really build up, particularly when you get to the £32,000 mark. I have played this a few times, even below the 1,0000 mark, the questions are sometimes very hard to ...
  • Pros: fun, exciting way of learning general knowledge
  • Cons: no fastest fingers first

You've just lost...

  • Excerpt: "The TV show of Who Wants to be a Millionaire was probably the finest cash for answers quiz show ever produced. I always remember thinking it sounded so easy; First they showed you the question, which you could decline to answer and keep where you was, secondly they gave you three 'lifelines' to help you along and finally you only had to answer 15 questions to win one million pounds!!!!! The show was a phenomenon and I wasn't surprised to see it released ...
  • Pros: Just like the real thing

Become a millionaire - but it'll cost you.

  • Excerpt: "...when you think about it, Who Wants to be a Millionaire is just questions, and after a while, that isn't exactly fun. So if you see it in a sale, or second hand, I would buy it. It's fun for the family, or for parties. If you like the TV show, and are always shouting the answers at the TV, then why not try your luck at the home PC game?....Is that your final answer? ...
  • Pros: A Novelty  -  fun for the family or a party, Loads of questions  -  you wont repeat one, Set in a virtual studio
  • Cons: Chris Tarrant doesn't actually speak the questions, you don't SEE Chriss, gets slightly boring, you have to wait in between questions  -  gets a bit annoying

  • Excerpt: "...response and Phone a Friend who does or does not know the answer. When you select your answer, expect to hear the same tones of Chris Tarrant leaving you in suspense for a few seconds before knowing if you've progressed to the next stage. As with the TV show, questions asked vary considerably in difficulty, sometimes it is easy to reach £32,000, other times it is difficult to reach even £4,000. If you enjoy the TV series, you will like this ...
  • Pros: Captures the TV show's atmosphere well
  • Cons: No option to switch off all the chat and just have the questions

  • Excerpt: "...'fastest finger' round to decide who plays for the million. If you like the TV show you'll love the game. If you don't like the TV show, you'll still enjoy it. The only thing against it (apart from not actually winning the cash) is its longevity - after the initial excitement it is best for occasional use. ...

All the tension and suspense in your own home

  • Excerpt: "...fantastic Chris Tarrent, i mean who else on the planet has an annoying laugh similar to his? Nobody. With the PC game, the excitement is brought to your very own home. When i first played it, i reached around £8000, i know thats pretty crappy, but hey im 15!im not going to get £1,000,000 straight off. Over time, i got better, and better. althought me myself have never been passed the £64,000. My boyfriend once got to £125,000 i think?! He became ...

  • Excerpt: "This game is brilliant to begin with, with the excellent graphics and sounds. But then after a while you start to get the same questions over and over again. What is happening? This makes it easier to get to the million (easier not easy) and because the money is not real (obviously) I tend to guess more because there is nothing to lose (apart from your name on the high score board). Overall I think this game is good but my advice – rent it and ...
