Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine (PC) Review

Cubed³
24 May 2015
  • Summary: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is one of those odd cases of oscillating influence, like how Call of Duty began life as a Medal of Honor clone, only for Medal of Honor to turn around and start aping its imitator's features once Call of Duty 4 exploded in popularity.

Warhammer 40k Space Marine

  • Excerpt: Before I begin, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that you do not need to know anything about the Warhammer 40,000 universe before delving into Space Marine. I haven't read any of the books, played the tabletop game, or played the Dawn of War games and I still got plenty of enjoyment from Space...

  • Summary: Until recently I was under the impression that Warhammer 40,000 was a tabletop war game played mainly by bookish and bearded nerds in comic shops and out-of-the-way conference rooms at sci-fi / fantasy conventions.

Gamers Daily News
28 September 2011
  • Summary: Overall I had a lot of fun playing the campaign and will continue to play multiplayer well into the future. If you are a fan I may round up as THQ and Relic once again do an excellent job of immersing you in the world of 40k.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

ActionTrip
23 September 2011
  • Conclusion: The art direction deserves some praise, as does the developer's effort to stay true to the Warhammer 40k universe. There's no doubt that Space Marine has a potential to shine, but as it stands, Relic needs to rethink the concept behind it.
  • Pros: A faithful rendition of the Warhammer 40k universe, looks and runs smoothly on most rigs, great music and voiceovers, a well-polished game, and great multiplayer which you're likely to get back to;
  • Cons: Story itself could've been better, the game cries out for more diversity just about in every aspect of gameplay, especially in single-player.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

DarkStation
22 September 2011
  • Conclusion: Space Marine isn’t particularly a long game and could probably be beaten over a weekend. The game doesn’t really have a whole lot of content to go along with its full retail price but the single player campaign is extremely fun and is worth playing.
