Warhammer 40k Space Marine

ablegamers.com
2 March 2012
  • Excerpt: Before I begin, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that you do not need to know anything about the Warhammer 40,000 universe before delving into Space Marine. I haven't read any of the books, played the tabletop game, or played the Dawn of War games and I still got plenty of enjoyment from Space...

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

ActionTrip
23 September 2011
  • Conclusion: The art direction deserves some praise, as does the developer's effort to stay true to the Warhammer 40k universe. There's no doubt that Space Marine has a potential to shine, but as it stands, Relic needs to rethink the concept behind it.
  • Pros: A faithful rendition of the Warhammer 40k universe, looks and runs smoothly on most rigs, great music and voiceovers, a well-polished game, and great multiplayer which you're likely to get back to;
  • Cons: Story itself could've been better, the game cries out for more diversity just about in every aspect of gameplay, especially in single-player.

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine – PC Game Review

Armchair General
15 September 2011
  • Excerpt: Let me say this upfront: the Warhammer 40000 ( WH40K ) universe is new to me. The writing talent of Dan Abnett, the treachery of Horus, and the wonder of a Warlord-class Titan purging its enemies: all new. Forge worlds, Space Wolves (and Hulks) and Orks of all varieties: new, new, new.
  • Pros: Faithful reproduction of the Warhammer 40,000 universe . Great action. An immersive plot and gameplay that gets deeper and improves with time.
  • Cons: Console roots are glaringly obvious. PC FPS polish is lacking: linear gameplay, imprecise firing reticules, delayed responses in movement, no map editor or dedicated server support.

VGChartz
15 September 2011
  • Excerpt: High-quality games set in the Warhammer 40k universe have almost all tended to be real-time strategy games, this being the specialty of developers Relic Entertainment, who are also famous for creating the cult favourite Homeworld and acclaimed RTS Company of Heroes.
