War Front: Turning Point

Strategy Informer
17 March 2008
  • Conclusion: War Front: Turning Point really doesn’t do anything new for RTS games but it does take a neat story idea and combine it with some pretty cool units. It is a pretty fun game to play, especially if you can find a friend. This is a very good game, but timing, novelty and a number of stupid annoyances prevent it from being great. And I don’t think it will ever get old to frag Nazi’s.

War Front: Turning Point

GamersHell.com
4 December 2007
  • Excerpt: As a human being, I am decidedly imperfect. In fact, I am a bundle of flaws: physical, intellectual, emotional--you name the aspect of existence, and I'll show you a glaring fault. As a result, I am sometimes intimidated by perfection. Have I read that great American novel? Maybe I'm not worthy. Seen that Oscar-winning film? Nah, it would just be over my head.

War Front: Turning Point

The Gamers Temple
8 October 2007
  • Excerpt: War Front: Turning Point is another World War II RTS, but it’s not your typical WWII RTS. It takes place in an alternate reality in which Hitler was assassinated early in the war, although his death apparently had no effect on Germany’s ambitions of conquest. In fact, the country’s plans of European domination prove to be far more successful with Hitler out of the picture and the game’s campaign opens with the Germans occupying London.

Wondering, Wandering WWII

GIN
4 June 2007
  • Excerpt: Being a big fan of The History Channel, it's always fun when they ask "what if" something happened differently than the actual event. And this type of speculative history has been a mainstay of fiction books for some time, with authors like Harry Turtledove really pushing it to its limits. So it makes sense that this genre would make it into games. In fact, it does all the time with games that put forward "aliens invade Earth" plots.

War Front: Turning Point

maximum pc
22 May 2007
  • Excerpt: War Front has the dubious honor of being the first RTS we played after SupCom (hereafter this period will be known as A.S.). Fair or not, SupCom raised our expectations, and War Front just doesn’t measure up—in fact, it feels like a bit of a fossil. However, like the old rocks at your local museum, at least it’s been cleaned and polished to shine for those who care to take a trip down memory lane for some old-school fun.
  • Pros: Up to 10 people can play at once!
  • Cons: Let's be honest, it's pretty old school--little has changed in RTS games since the late 1990s.

  • Summary: War Front: Turning Point explores an alternate World War II, one in which Hitler is assassinated in the early days, and you will take command of experimental weapons, prototype vehicles and units rarely seen in strategy games in an attempt to alter or secure the historical outcome of World War II.

Expert Review

GamerDay

  • Conclusion: This game is worth the buy and comes loaded with an action packed story line and many unique units that will have you rethink the World War genre.
  • Pros: Gameplay is fantastic and graphics can surprise anyone.
  • Cons: Multiplayer seems to be crap and poorly designed.
