USA In Vietnam

bilbobagi..., Ciao
28 July 2011
  • Excerpt: "...on and off ever since. Vietcong is perhaps the best Vietnam-based FPS I have ever played, and will ever play. Despite there being a sequal, Vietcong 2, I still feel this game offers much more enjoyment. Campaign mode is both tense and exhilerating. The game offers 28 missions with more than 30 deadly weapons to become an expert in using. It takes you through dense rainforest and beautiful mountainous regions which can all be played ...
  • Pros: Great mulitplayer options .
  • Cons: Poor graphics for today .

AKs Ver M16s

me.net, Ciao
23 June 2004
  • Excerpt: "AKs Ver M16s Viet Cong is the one of the best games on jungle warfare. The game is based on the Vietnamese jungle warfare where the Vietcong's and the Americans fight for there lives in a teem battle. With the Americans getting there ass kicked by the Vietnamese with far from accurate AK47s and rubbish p shooters. This game is a very cleverly made with lots of original ideas. I would say that it is well worth buying. the multy player options for ...

" Gung ho for N.F.Gs"

Quillan, Ciao
17 June 2004
  • Excerpt: "...Charlie. However, from the off Vietcong draws you slap bang into the sweaty clutches of Jungle warfare during 1967. Heaven without technology for the sniper's amongst you!!! Terrific graphics accompany a well thought out story line that takes you through the thick of firefights accompanied by a special ops team who's foul language and brutality know no bounds. A very enjoyable game I found myself ducking the occasional wild round. Jumping everytime ...
  • Pros: Heart pumping action from the off .
  • Cons: Missions were too short .

very good

28 May 2004
  • Summary: I enjoyed this game. Some missions were frustrating, but not half as much as some reviewers say-the tunnel missions in particular are not too long. Some missions like defending the base from attackers are great fun, and while some characters are over the top the game manages to keep you going on for more. It is not too long either, a plus in my book.

  • Excerpt: "...play I bought my copy of Vietcong for around 400 SEK (almost 30 £) in a local store. But that was when it was just out. It should be a bit cheaper now. Overall, it's a great game (I can't stop playing it :-)) ...
  • Pros: Very nice graphics, a nice feeling through out the game
  • Cons: They could have included more missions in the campaign .

Vietnam in all it's gritty glory

benwad, Ciao
4 May 2004
  • Excerpt: "...pile of logs as a Vietcong machine-gun rips the logs to splinters in front of you! Imagine crawling through the tunnels that the Vietcong have tirelessly dug out, finding secret rooms and booby traps! Imagine seeing your temmates head explode and shooting at the Vietcong shouting 'This is for you, Jonny!' You can do all of this, and more in this game. As the game starts, you are flying through the air, talking to another recruit about how you are ...

Best Vietman game out, right now. IMHO.

J D C, Amazon
22 April 2004
  • Summary: No you can't drive a tank or drop napalm on somebody, but Vietman was best remembered as a jungle war. And there's plenty of jungle in Vietcong. This game is best when played online, with lots of cover, several different kinds of weapons, and many different types of games (DM, TDM, CTF, etc.) and maps. Single play, for both, are challenging, especially on vietnam difficulty (no HUD). Do a search and try out the demo.

Vietcong - incredibly overlooked

smooth_cr..., Ciao
22 April 2004
  • Excerpt: "...game. So when I bought Vietcong I decided to approach it with some caution. Expecting a bit of a let down I settled into Nui Pek camp in the central highlands (the setting for the game) as Hawkins; a green beret with a distinct hate for the Viet Cong guerrillas. As I started getting into the game I suddenly realised how good it was – exciting and rewarding gameplay, beautiful jungle locations, a vast array of incredibly detailed weaponry and equipment, ...
  • Pros: Incredibly realistic, captures the setting of Vietnam very well
  • Cons: Slightly repetitive at times
