Excerpt: Vietcong 2 is the sequel to the Pterodon's Vietcong, a first-person shooter set in the Vietnam War. It's success lead to this sequel, and while the setting has moved (from the jungle to the urban jungle) the gameplay remains pretty similar to the original game. Sadly, games have moved on in the last few years, and Vietcong 2 feels terribly outdated. The game actually has two campaigns: a US and Vietcong campaign.
Excerpt: War shooting games have always been a popular type with gamers everywhere, and after supplying consumers with loads of World War 2 games, developers began switching things up and coming out with games based on the Vietnam War, but results were not what they had hoped. Pterodon and Illusion Soft words decided to bring about a more authentic jungle style of warfare in Vietcong, where players had real, authentic warfare to deal with. Ambushes are non-stop, the enemy is...
Excerpt: Vietcong 2, an introduction. Just over two and a half years ago we reviewed Vietcong, a war based FPS that focused on the war in Vietnam rather than the tried and tested World War II scenario. With this change of scene came a few changes. Instead of having to cope with the usual urban environments, the action was jungle based and having to contend with enemies you could barely see due to the foliage made for an original, and difficult, new experience.

Instead, your publisher chose to release you in the fall, surrounded by the release of mega-shooters like Quake 4, Call of Duty 2, and F.E.A.R, all games that will take up more shelf-space. While they sit in the new release section, with flashy stickers all over their boxes screaming “buy me!
Excerpt: Vietcong 2 puts gamers into the Vietnam War and allows them to play either American or Vietcong forces. Solid gameplay and nice production values make Vietcong a decent title, but a completely stock story and some boneheaded AI prevent it from standing out. Vietcong 2 is still a welcome change from the overplayed WWII games that proliferate these days. Check in with Sean Hilliard for his complete review.
Pros: ups: Nice visuals and audio; doesn't take the easy gruesome route.
Cons: downs: Another war game; weird political message out of nowhere; dumb AI; pretty ho-hum story.
Excerpt: Vietcong 2 is set against the turbulent backdrop of the 1968 Tet Offensive and throws gamers into the ancient city of Hue during the Vietnam War. Once again, developers Pterodon, manage to capture the feel and look of the 1960's with not only an engaging storyline but also some sturdy gameplay.
