Trine 2 (PC) - Review

VGChartz
14 January 2012
  • Excerpt: It’s either a bad medieval joke or the plot of a Trine game. Trine 2 is the immediate sequel to Trine , the lauded co-op platforming action game by Finnish developers Frozenbyte. More refinement than reinvention, Trine 2 is a fairly safe sequel which builds on the great gameplay of the original.

Trine 2 Review (XBLA / PSN)

GameZone
22 December 2011
  • Excerpt: When Trine released for PC and PlayStation Network, it introduced an interesting new take on the old Lost Vikings concept that worked back on the SNES.  You’ve got three different characters, each with their own specific abilities and talents, who need to work together to solve puzzles and venture onward to the next waiting level.  However, the major difference between these games lie in the presentation.

As the player you can switch between the different characters at any moment, to solve the various puzzles you come up against. The three characters have distinctly different skills.

Trine 2

ActionTrip
16 December 2011
  • Conclusion: Trine 2 is a wonderful experience with solid platform style challenges and physics-based puzzles. Its simplicity, impressive artwork, gorgeous graphics and generally captivating atmosphere will keep you inside its mysterious world for ages. The single-player and co-op modes are both challenging enough and extremely fun at the same time. Honestly, we wish there were more games like this one out there.
  • Pros: Trine 2 does what it predecessor does, only a lot better, a fine and universally appealing fairy-tale, absolutely stunning art and graphics, a fun experience in solo play and online co-op;
  • Cons: Some rare lag issues in multiplayer, occasional glitches in physics while levitating objects.

Trine 2 Review (PC)

Softpedia
2 February 2011
  • Excerpt: I bought Trine a while ago during a Steam sale but neglected it for quite some time. After hearing that the sequel is coming, I tried it out to see if it’s worth getting excited about its successor. That was probably one of the best decisions I made last summer, as its top notch platforming and puzzles delighted me throughout that traditional drought of new releases.
  • Pros: +Stunning visuals, +Great puzzles, +Varied levels
  • Cons: -Lackluster story, -Combat can get repetitive
