Better Than Halo

Kyle H., Newegg
2 April 2006
  • Summary: Get off the Halo bandwagon, CS doesnt cut it anymore. This game started online fps tactics. This is a game with any dimensional views. The ability to partially fly and do battle that way.
  • Pros: Tired of simple FPS's like unreal, halo, quake, or cs? Does it feel like you are limited to just either of the two when it comes to "1337" skillz: who is the faster draw or who can aimlessly kill in the first 5 minutes of gameplay.?? Then go with Tribes.
  • Cons: None, I beta tested the first tribes when it came out years ago. This is the third installment and I can say its moved in a good direction, Too bad ignorant gamers only have tunnel vision with Halo.

A let down

James K., Newegg
5 January 2006
  • Summary: If you are a sniper, then too bad, because the shotlag between trigger pull and fire time is about 1 1/2 seconds, and the addition of a single player campaign was a nice try but it was a pretty bad try at that, they should have just stuck with the training mission like in the last game.
  • Pros: Its a try at a continuation on the tribes seres The graphics and ragdoll are pretty nice
  • Cons: A complete and utter failure at a sequal to the two previous tribes games, this one dosnt even compare, especially to tribes 2 (which you can get for free legally now)

  • Summary: I was terribly dissapointed in T:V. The new dagger thing is a poor substitute for T2's classic shocklance. And the flying along with the grappling hook is overall clumsy compared to the previous physics.

  • Summary: Vehicles. Vast outdoor environments. Focus on teamplay. Online support for 32 players. Base equipment and trinkets. Jetpacks offering full freedom of movement. Mixing and matching gear to create your own roles. Never the same game twice.

  • Summary: Once again Tribes is the greatest of all FPS. If you think you are the elite FPS, you don't know jack until you've played tribes. In Tribes you actually have to know how to play in a 3D world. The speed, the team work, the depth are unrivaled by any other FPS, including Doom 3 and Half Life 2.
