Trauma

ccgr.org
7 May 2012
  • Excerpt: A traffic accident places a young woman into the hospital. She lies in her bed, apparently comatose. She struggles to recover, but much of the struggle is within her own mind. In the game TRAUMA, by Polish game designer Krystian Majewski, the player is placed in the role of the woman as she searches through her memories and dreams.
  • Pros: Use of photos provide a unique game experience; mysterious story draws you in; DRM-free; short load time between the different “worlds.”
  • Cons: Very short game; music is frequently annoying

Trauma by flotsam

  • Excerpt: By definition an emotional wound or shock, Trauma is far more a feeling or experience than it is a game, although game-like interactions punctuate the events. It seemed like it wanted to be more than a game, but ultimately it felt a bit empty, a pretty thing that was over too quickly to make a deep impression.

  • Conclusion: It should also be noted that Trauma is playable for free in its entirety on the official website. The free version is exactly the same with a few small differences: somewhat lower-resolution images and video, significantly longer load times (since you are streaming each vignette from the server), and occasional messages asking you to consider buying the game to support the developer.

  • Conclusion: TRAUMA is short, sweet, and intriguing, as much a work of cinematography and psychology as it is a game.

  • Summary: As the video game industry continues to expand, many developers are searching for new and different ways to use interactive sights and sounds to spark an emotional reaction in the player. Trauma tries to be such a game, using a series of photorealistic images to immerse you in the dreams of an accident victim.
  • Pros: Pretty photos to look at
  • Cons: Meaningless story fails to be engaging, emotional, or immersive, Limited interactivity, Requires no thought to complete

Trauma

Trauma

Spieletester.com
11 December 2012
  • Conclusion: Trauma ist definitiv mal etwas ganz anderes.
