Summary: Game is nowhere as near as fun to play as the original Rome Total War and requires to much micromanagement. You are so busy keeping your people happy you can't go out and work on conquering anyone. And the unit cards atrocious using figures that look like something off of ancient Greek pottery, instead of the nicely illustrated and descriptive unit cards in the first version. Game is definitely a step backwards in so many ways.
Summary: I've loved the past total war games I decided to buy this game. I read all the reviews that said people had trouble making it work. But that couldn't happen to me right? Well little did I know, I would have the same problem. I'm sure this game is great, but 7 re-installations, multiple patches, every fix I could find on the internet, and 3 days of fiddling around with it later and I've just about had it.
Summary: We were sent a game that had been previously registered. Therefore the company would not allow a 2nd registration with the same CD key. WE thought we were getting a new game. Instead we were sent a previously used game.
This game deserves its place in the trash. If not the toilette since its utter crap.

Summary: Had so much potential but completely wasted. I had fun on every total war but this one just feels lacking. I would start to play and within minutes I find myself yawning. To add insult to injury, the launch was a complete disaster. Then they tried to cover it up by saying that it only happened to a "small percentage" of gamers. 1) This is complete BS because they wouldn't have to make that statement if it only happened to a small amount of gamers.
Do not buy until reduced to $5. Its not worth more than this.

Summary: Huge disappointment. I don't think any of the patches will fix this game as they have fundamentally ruined the total war game experience. I eagerly awaited and preordered this game. I have been playing it since I got it. Holding out hope that it would improve. But last night after a weeks holiday I came back to it, and decided it was so boring that I went back to Shogun 2. That made me want to right this brief review.
Summary: Terrible. As a fan of the first Rome Total War game, I eagerly awaited this game for months and pre-ordered it. When it arrived I immediately installed it and connected it to my Steam account. The first week it was literally unplayable. After 2 months and and 7 major patches the game is still boring and glitchy. I finally realized this game is never going to meet my expectations and I've uninstalled it from my hard drive. It really is not a fun experience.
Summary: The game does not feel like it was made by the same people that made shogun 2 or any of the preceding titles. It's like they brought in an outsourced team to make a TW game in look only not in game play and quality. This suffers from very poor game play and pathetic AI, Pass on this game until you can pay 9.99$ for it. The features that are not included in this game are features that made this game special. Family tree comes to mind.
Summary: Rome II is the worst experience i've ever had with a video game. Not only did it have substantial problems as of the launch date, which have still not been fully resolved, but it requires STEAM which requires you to be online in order to play. Also, you CANNOT play the game without the latest patch!
