And there are even a couple of "wait, there's more" kickers. Along with being one of the best action RPGs to hit the PC in many moons, Torchlight is selling for just $19.95, and it comes with absurdly undemanding system requirements along with a netbook mode so that you can play it on just about any system. So not only do you get a great game, but you get a great deal in every respect. Stop reading and start playing. Read more
Torchlight doesn't really do anything new, per se. It's taken the dungeon-crawling genre and refined it to its best elements. The style matches the mood of the game, and a fairly interesting story put over it all as well. Replayability is there: you can move through an infinite dungeon after beating the game, or 'retire', which allows you to restart at level 1 again with another class, but hand down an item from your high-level character, but with lowered stat and level... The good stuff. Oh yeah. “Sharpscrap Handgonne of the Master (+4 Critical Hit Chance)”, “Carnage Saw of The Bear (+28 Physical Damage & 3 Mana Stolen Per Hit)”. Saliva pooling? Buy Torchlight at once! Read more
You can try to deny it all you want, but deep inside you love looting. Don't try to hide it, it's inside us all. There's something warm and fuzzy about killing rows and rows of skeletons and then seeing what the hell they were carrying (and why the hell they were carrying it). Torchlight is the first title from the newly founded Runic Games, and it's great. The game attempts to capture all of the finest aspects of the genre whilst eliminating the more undesirable quirks from Hack ‘n Slash history. It achieves this in many ways but sacrifices a few of the staples too. Unfortunately the plot is stick thin and the quests are generally not that immersive. Read more
Torchlight Torchlight is a dungeon crawler from some of the people who brought you the original Diablo. As such, the game is very similar. You click and drag the mouse to move, click on baddies to splatter them and right-click to cast your overpowered spells. Basically, it's Diablo like you always wished it was. There's one central dungeon (until you beat the Big Bad Dude™) and one central town. Although, you can buy “map scrolls” which will open portals to other... Read more

Don't let the cute characters on the box fool you - this is a fun and addictive single-player dungeon crawler in the vain of the Diablo series, which when you consider that it was made by some of the same people, that's to be expected. And relished. The game takes everything that was good about Diablo and Diablo 2 (random dungeons, killing monsters, loads of loot) and updates it into a visually stylish game that will keep you coming back to play for hours. The town of... Read more
