Summary: I choose to give 5 stars to this game and the other thief games because the dark engine used to make this games has such a feeling to it. The game and the series are unique as you will not find another game like this. I reccommend this game for 2 reasons. 1- If you enjoyed thief the dark project/Thief gold, you surely are going to like the sequel. 2- You will need this game in case you want to play most of the FanMissions that other FANS have made.
Conclusion: Thief 1 and 2 are possibly two of the best games I have ever played, so when I saw that I could buy both for £4.99 I just had to get them. Compared to modern games the graphics aren't brilliant, but the environs in game are richly textured and detailed. The storylines are deep and have some meaning and despite the title, the main protaganist is someone who can be empathised with. A definite buy for anyone who likes computer games of any genre.
Conclusion: 4.99 For 2 of the best games ever you cant go wrong. So if your a bit skint buy this and you will have days of fun with a great story line. Plus when you have finished you can download a patch which will convert thief into a new game what more could you ask for.
Conclusion: Two of the greatest PC games, the graphics may have aged but the plotting, acting and gameplay are among the very finest ever written for the PC. There are also many fan written levels available for free download on the internet to extend the life of these superb games.
Excerpt: As with Thief, Thief 2: The Metal Age casts you as Garrett, a freelance thief out to make a comfortable living by nicking stuff from the residents of the nameless city where he lives. Like Thief, the first few missions introduce you to Garrett's world and work while the rest draw you deeper and deeper into Thief 2's rather dark story, pitting you against a sinister foe (aren't they all?).
Excerpt: Having completed all three games in the "Thief" series, I decided I would review the 2nd in the series "Thief 2 The Metal Age". This series of games are the best I've ever played (and I've played a lot) I thoroughly enjoyed playing all of them from start to finish. "Thief 2" is the first game from the series that I played and the one I enjoyed the most.
Excerpt: I loved the first Thief game; it was a reaction to the frenetic and fairly brainless FPS games that have plagued the genre for so long, and promoted intelligence in reaching one's goals. I was rather excited when a sequel was announced, and even moreso when I beat it and found it to be just as good, if not better than the original. As with the first game, this is pretty much the best executed stealth-based game out there.
Summary: Thief 2 is a great game and I played it yesterday for the first time in about 7 years! However, when I play it, there are times when it crashes and doesn't respond... but I think this is more to do with windows XP being too advanced for it than the seller.
Summary: Thief 2 is the perfect sequel to Thief: The Dark Project. The simple graphics (compared to many recent games) are more than compensated for by the characters, plot and choice of implements. It is great to see a game where the player isn't an unstoppable machine; in fact it's great to see a game in which fighting is to be avoided! The AI is at least as good as in Dark Project. I was glad to see that the interface hasn't changed.
