Game is great of course but beware of "updates" needed to play the games with the Orange Box edition.

Jim & Christy, Amazon
8 March 2014
  • Summary: Game is awesome of course but expect the following with this "Orange Box" edition. You must download STEAM from steam website, copy is box is not useable and you can expect to download GBs of "updates" before you can even play, I imagine all the games on the disk are the old dated games.

Decent game

Joe, Amazon
7 August 2013
  • Summary: The game itself is actually very good and it has many mods available for it to extend its life. The only problem I have with it is Steam, you have to install Steam to play the game. Because of this you are required to have an internet connection to connect to Steam to play this game even in single player mode. For me this is a game breaking problem, just be aware of that before you decide to purchase.

Hate steam, love the game!

Lynn, Amazon
11 February 2013
  • Summary: I love half-life 2! It's a great game with lots of surprises! My #1 complaint is not the game at all but Steam. It has to run with Steam which is absolutely annoying. It took Steam approx. a full hour to load everything. I have a 5-gig limit on my air card and it has taken almost all of my 5-gigs. I would give this 5 stars if it was without steam. I can't stress the aggravation of steam enough.

HERE IT IS, THE GAME BASICALLY ISNT ON THE CD. IT IS JUST FOR THE ACTIVATION KEY REALLY. THE GOOD THING BOUT STEAM IS THAT ONCE U ACTIVATED A GAME, IT STAYS IN UR ACCOUNT FOREVER.

Don't Buy It Used!

John Green, Amazon
15 January 2011
  • Summary: Don't buy it used for PC. It uses an activation application called "Steam" to install and make sure that only the original purchaser can use it. Its not a problem if you buy it new, but, if you buy it used, it will be simply unusable. Also, if you still want to buy it, go download "Steam" for FREE [...] and buy it from there. It will be cheaper (no need to pay shipping/handling or other extra fees) and it's guaranteed to work.

Just get it directly on Steam.

AmazonShopper, Amazon
27 December 2010
  • Summary: There's no need for me to talk about how good of a value this game is. Half Life 2, TF2, Portal, they're all fun and easily justify the price. However he reason for 3 stars is my discovery that buying the discs is pointless. You'd think that if you buy the discs you can just jump in and play right away, but not so fast.

The Best Deal in Gaming. Period. End of story.

Garcia, Amazon
19 August 2010
  • Summary: What more can be said? You have here a collection that includes three of the best games ever made, plus two expansions, for less than the usual price of a single title. If nothing else, Team Fortress 2 by itself makes it worth it. TF2 really is the funnest multiplayer experience out there, and it keeps on getting better and better. Major pieces of new content are being added to the game THREE YEARS AFTER RELEASE. FOR FREE.

BEST GAME PACKAGE EVER MADE despite some issues

ghillisniper300 "Seek truth with discernment", Amazon
13 August 2010
  • Summary: Ah, The Orange Box. More fun than a man should have in one simple box! Despite a few recent frustrations I have had with Steam and the Valve team, despite a few annoyances early on and spread throughout my Orange Box gaming, this is still, without a doubt, the best game package ever created. First, the "Billboard" game in the box is Half Life 2, Half Life 2 Episode 1, and Half Life Episode 2. Yeah, it's confusing. But it's just one long story. And a good one at that.

Portal, TF2, HL2 all in one for a great price

jon, TopTenREVIEWS
4 March 2009
  • Summary: For the price you would normally get a single game, this is a steal. Though portal wasn't very long, it was a fun distraction, and after you completed it you can go back for a more challenging go through on their modified levels. I ended up mostly playing Team Fortress 2. It has provided many hours of online mayhem. It actually does justice to the original team fortress from so long ago, keeping the same 'on the edge of your seat' feeling.

What a waste

ryan, TopTenREVIEWS
11 February 2009
  • Summary: No wonder this game comes with the console it's not a good game sure it has about 3 games on one single disc, but there's a reason for that. They all suck the graphics are bad the story line for each of them are all around not good story lines. This game is a waste of time to even look at or to even buy I would never spend my money on this and i'd advise anyone to do the same.
