(PC Review) The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The Entertainment Depot
19 October 2011
  • Summary: If you can gather nothing else from this mammoth review, understand that Morrowind is colossal, offering a virtual infinity of opportunities for the ambitious RPG fan. Of course, its focus is considerably narrower than its predecessors and often finds itself trimming previously available features as a result: for instance, Daggerfall veterans might be disappointed to find that NPCs are awake 24 hours a day and no longer follow a daily schedule, not to mention that...

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind review (PC)

HonestGamers
5 August 2008
  • Excerpt: 's atmosphere is so all encompassing despite the derivative high-fantasy setting that it's an enormous challenge not to be blown away at regular intervals. This atmosphere stretches beyond the realms of the delicious visual design, or the eerily fantastic soundscapes, right up to those little moments of the game where you simply can't believe what's happening.

  • Summary: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is a great game. There's so much to do, and fine ways of doing it, that the gameplay is top-notch. And the graphics, my stars! Every place in the game is a potential screenshot. I can say that Morrowind is the best RPG I've ever played, but that isn't saying much of doing the game much justice. It's a huge world full of things to do, in any order you can think of. You should by Morrowind without any hesitation. Go on, do it right now.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Game Over Online
7 June 2002
  • Excerpt: From its rousing score to its breathtaking vistas, everything from head to toe about Morrowind speaks the language of an epic, in the same creative sense that led to Homer creating The Iliad, Miguel de Cervantes' comical scripting of Don Quixote or James Joyce penning the illustrious Ulysses. It all begins with a timeless, oft-repeated quest motif: the archetype of the hero in the search for self.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

GamersHell.com
31 May 2002
  • Excerpt: Morrowind is possibly the most anticipated game of the year. How did it do? Unlike Star Wars: Episode 2, the critics are in awe of the newest installment of the Elder Scrolls Saga. I am in complete agreement. If anything, Morrowind is almost too much of a good thing.

Morrowind Review

Strategy Gaming Online
25 May 2002
  • Excerpt: Bethesda Softworks has spent a long time developing Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, the third installment in their series of expansive single-player RPGs. Morrowind was released with a decent amount of hype and fanfare, and it easily lives up to most of what everyone has heard about the game. It comes at a price in bugs and imbalances, but that thankfully they don't even come close to ruining the experience.

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind

ActionTrip
14 May 2002
  • Conclusion: That being said, Morrowind is an excellent game. In terms of gameplay, there's very little more that can be offered by such a far-reaching endeavor, and Bethesda should be proud of such a fine effort.
  • Pros: Limitless gameplay, excellent visuals, complete construction tools for would-be DM's;
  • Cons: Crash bugs exist, sound is monotonous, steep system req's.
