Buy it cheap, play it once. Or rent it if you can. Try to ignore the XCOM-tie-in attempt.

Summary: I'd be irritated if I paid >$20. But I got it on sale <$10, and at the price I find this an okay game with a nice visual look and setting that needs to be used more in games (possibly even exploring themes and issues from the 60s era, although this game does work them in somewhat, like Red Scare, McCarthyism, aliens among us, and exploration of "alternate" identities).
Summary: I enjoyed this game, but I am a big fan of the Xcom universe. It suffers from a bad case of bland gameplay with large rashes of chest high walls. The features they threw to increase the depth (commanding AI companions and using a skill tree) are fun but under utilized. If you like 3rd person shooters, and if you can pick this up as part of a sale, it can be worth the price of admission.
Slightly Below Mediocre - Could have been a four-star game with a little tightening up

Summary: I love the 60's aesthetic of the game. The wardrobe, the environments, the fact that when you run into NPCs on a mission with a lot of dialogue your NPC companions break out their smokes, and lean up against the wall to take a break while you're talking; Little flourishes like this make the game enjoyable from the outset. The story is nothing great; it's just something to chain the action sequences together (and that's fine).
Summary: Have yet to played this game(bought this 2 months ago of the date of review). Saw the trailers and gameplay which definitely look like fun . Though it is a different take of XCOM, being third person shooter and all.. Maybe one day when i stop buying games on impulse when it is on sale for cheap and actual play those games i bought then i will update the review again!
Repetitive gameplay leads to disappointing results

Summary: The Good: Captures the Cold War atmosphere, fun tactical combat, deep character customization The Bad: Every battle starts to feel the same, nothing in between to break it up, story is muddled, squad perma-death is frustrating XCOM: Enemy Unknown was one of the best RTS games to come out in years. It had tightly coordinated tactical gameplay that packed a punch and kept you on your toes.
Summary: If you are an Xcom fan as I am, this could be a let down as it is very different from the other Xcom games (which are among my favorites). If you are not a fan of Xcom, I would skip this title. There are much better cover shooters. I enjoyed it but mainly because I knew what I was getting into and enjoy the Xcom universe. Wait for a good sale.
Summary: This game was absolutely fantastic. It mixed the tactical elements of Xcom normal with Third Person Shooter elements. You could level up a lot of your guys to fight with you and the storyline was awesome. It had a slight RPG feel to it too with the talent points but other than that it was all TPS/Action. The characters and voicing were glorious, I could just listen to the cutscenes all day.
