Excerpt: In a way, you've got to feel sorry for Starbreeze Studios. With Syndicate , the shooter-centric re-imagining of the 1993 strategy game of the same name -- there's absolutely no way to please everyone. Fans of the original are going to scoff at how the new developer turned it into a shooter, but fans of shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield are unlikely to give it a shot.
Excerpt: If you're a fan of 1993's beloved strategy game Syndicate , you might see the new series reboot as heresy. But if you've dismissed the new Syndicate because you think it sullies the franchise, you're doing yourself a disservice. That's because 2012's Syndicate is a really good first-person shooter with a palpable science-fiction vibe and rousing cooperative play.
Pros: Fantastic, nail-biting cooperative play, Aggressive AI keeps the pressure on, Online progression system gives you reasons to return, Smooth animations and great sci-fi atmosphere, Gunplay and hacking lead to thrills, Fantastic, nail-biting cooperative play, Aggressive AI keeps the pressure on, Online progression system gives you reasons to return, Smooth animations and dazzling visuals, Gunplay and hacking lead to thrills
Conclusion: That all sounds deliciously gory, though in practice, you're not focused on the splattering of brains: you've already moved on to your next target. Some of those targets may require breaching, which is to say, hacking your target's chip. Powerful enemies require you to breach their armor before they can be harmed, which requires holding a key for several precious seconds. When such a foe is playing lone gunman, this isn't so bad.

Excerpt: I wasn’t sure what to expect from Syndicate when I arrived at Electronic Arts’ Redwood Shores campus. Like many gamers, I remember Syndicate as a PC standout of the early 1990s that combined slick cyberpunk atmospherics with an isometric perspective to create an addictive real-time strategy experience.
Excerpt: Poor Syndicate . Not only is it a FPS-update of a popular, long-ignored PC strategy game (which is unsettling for many fans of the classic), it’s a game that is coming out early next year with very little hype and bravado given to the game. Thankfully, it looks like EA is giving it some old fashioned marketing TLC, starting off, for me, with a peek into the co-op portion of Syndicate before it launches on February 24. The narrative of Syndicate places players in 2069.
Excerpt: We all long for unique and innovative games, which unfortunately, but logically are very difficult to come by. Building your own pizza empire would seems to fit this innovative game type, however for some strange reason, Pizza Syndicate is not the first game with the premise of building your own pizza parlor.
Summary: The original Syndicate was a much-loved isometric tactical shooter from 1993. EA and Starbreeze Studios’ 2012 update-slash-reboot is a first-person shooter – a reflection on the corporate dystopia presented in the series, where free will is subsumed by big business concerns? It’s possible, though overt similarities to other nightmarish futures in fiction, from the ‘Big Brother’ paranoia of Nineteen Eighty-Four to the tiered society of Gattaca, make it seem a touch more...
