Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

Thunderbolt Games
23 August 2007
  • Excerpt: Forgive the sweeping generalisations, but generally action and adventure sequels fall into two categories. Firstly you’ve got the updates; titles which recycle practically everything from the previous game[s] – often including levels, characters and plot points – whilst bringing very little new to the table and making little or no effort to change or introduce significant gameplay elements. This I shall refer to as the Resident Evil 3 Approach .

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

Just RPG

  • Excerpt: Knights of the Old Republic was among my favorite RPGs ever made. Needless to say, I, along with millions of others, was hyped for the sequel. However, with a release so soon after the original, and with a new developer at the helm, I was skeptical.

  • Conclusion: their feats and for your character, and party characters that are Jedi’s, their Force Powers. This aspect of the game is near identical to that of the first game. Feats are abilities that allow your character to use certain weapons and armor, or perform certain actions in combat. Skills are a character's abilities and their proficiencies in those abilities, which include their ability to hack a computer terminal, or repair a damaged droid.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords

ActionTrip

  • Conclusion: But even despite all of the aforementioned drawbacks, I was prepared to give the game a high mark. The sequel offers plenty of hours of fun - we're talking 20-30 hours of playtime here, being wrapped in a story that will surely keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. KOTOR 2 does possess the same addictive qualities that made me fall in love with the original, and that is why I had a strong desire to play on.
  • Pros: Phenomenal story and dialogue, addictive, beautiful worlds, plenty of hours of fun
  • Cons: ... if you can live with the terrible performance issues and other bugs; dated technology, AI issues, inconsistent voice acting, no major gameplay novelties.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: A great game that many players will find irritatingly familiar. Graphical shortcomings aside, The Sith Lords is an amazing package that delivers the thrill of a Star Wars movie with ease. An engrossing plot and interesting, original characters separate this game from the crowd.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

Game Over Online
12 January 2005
  • Excerpt: The sequel to a popular game comes out a mere year and a half later, with a different developer and with three months shaved off its dev time. These are what we in the business refer to as "warning signs." With that in mind, it's nothing short of a minor miracle that Knights of the Old Republic II turned out as well as it did.

  • Conclusion: I'll explain. As in KOTOR, you aren't presupposed to be a whiter-than-white good guy. Your deeds dictate whether you stick to the light side, or if you start slipping to the dark side of the force. Now in KOTOR, it was fun to mess around with, but you never lost sight of your overall objective.
  • Pros: Fantastic and intriguing character interaction, Rich, detailed plot that commands your attention
  • Cons: Fellow party members, please stop dying of stupid deaths., Story may take over action a little too often for some people’s liking.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords English Review

ComputerGames.ro
15 August 2011
  • Excerpt: The story of KotOR 2 is strongly tied to that of its predecessor and despite the producers’ efforts to familiarize new comers to the background of the series, it’s still a very good idea to play the first Knights before you start with the sequel. By doing so, you will have a much better understanding of the story and will also come to appreciate the comeback of some characters, which will be familiar to those who played the first part.
