Star Trek Voyager Elite Force

The Armchair Empire
10 December 2007
  • Conclusion: Gameplay is solid for this kind of FPS. Jump, run, crouch, and even the ability to lean out around corners are included. The default control configuration isn’t very intuitive or easy to use so be sure to make adjustments that better suit your needs. The action can get very intense. Some battles take place in very enclosed areas like cargo bays, with wave after wave of baddies trying to melt a hole in your head.

The game utilizes the Quake 3 engine for incredible graphics as you travel through many familiar locations Voyager, a Borg cube, a Klingon Bird of Prey, and more. Graphically, the game looking gorgeous because it uses very powerful Q3A engine.

  • Conclusion: The Elite Force levels are a real tribute to the FPS genre! The design is imaginative, versatile, dynamic, and immensely atmospheric. During your time as Ensign Monroe, you'll explore environments ranging from organic alien ships to medieval castles and western towns (Holodeck) ... to the most brilliant maps of all, including the Borg Cube and final levels. The fantastic level design is accompanied with gameplay dynamics that are worthy of being called Half-Life-like.

  • Conclusion: Lovers of StarTrek would give EF in the nineties; more objective viewers would give it in the eighties or late seventies. As such we'll try to bridge the gap with an overall mark of 85%. In the end EF is a good and solid FPS, however you can't ignore how short it is, unoriginal multiplayer (so much Raven could have done, down to mod makers now), limited interactivity and poor use of Q3A's graphical merits.

  • Summary: Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force is an outstanding first-person shooter based on the most recent Star Trek TV series. Star Trek fans shouldn't be alone in experiencing the game's exciting story-driven single-player campaign that pits the Voyager crew against Klingon scavengers, the Borg menace, and other sinister forces - as well as its solid multiplayer mode.

Game Over Online

  • Excerpt: The Star Trek franchise has arguably been one of the most licensed video game franchises of all time, with a good 20 games or thereabouts, ranging from adventure to action to even pinball. As is habitual with mass franchises, as well, games labeled with the Star Trek insignia have been, unfortunately, known to be subpar, to say the least.
