Summary: It's a pretty fun game until you level out and run out of missions. You can level out pretty fast compared to other games IMO. Took me less than 3 weeks and I raise a child and work. Compared to another game I play which took me 8-9 weeks. The pvp is so/so. Unless they continue to create more content and stop "enhancing" old content I'll be dropping my subscription. If they go to free to play then I'd say buy it. If not I wouldn't waste the money.
Summary: The space combat is a blast, but the ground combat really ruins this game. Ground combat is boring, its like the same missions over and over again. Buying starships as you level is fun. Played this game for about a week and was done with it. I love Star Trek and wish this game could fix how boring the ground combat is. I only paid $5 and got a month free, fun for about a week.
Summary: Hmm not sure where to begin... This game, if given any other name, would have gotten a 5 star review for these alone: BOFF customizations Weapon Customizations Exploit/Expose combat system But we're talking Star Trek here, and there are some things about the way they made this game that made it feel very UN-Star Trek like. The most blatantly obvious fact: WHERE'S THE BRIDGE? You cant hail other ships from it, cant engage to warp speed from it..
Summary: When they announced a Star Trek MMO several years ago, I was pumped for it!! Ever since Everquest, I have dreamt of a Star Trek Online game. Being a BIG SFB/SFC fan, I was excited for more Trek space combat. The promise of Ground combat AND space combat was unique and excited for that. Graphics aren't bad considering, as are the sound effects and music. Game play is where it becomes very flat.
Summary: Star Trek Online has been hyped for quite a long time and after a little drama (company changes / rumors of vaporware) it is finally released. Starting Up: When starting out I was presented with the same basic "create your character" sequence that is common with most MMOs. A somewhat unique feature is to be able to give yourself specific traits. Character customization is good and keeps everybody looking different.
Summary: As a huge fan of both Star Trek and video games, I have been looking forward to trying this game for years. Trek and an MMO really seem like the perfect marriage, if you think about it. There's a whole galaxy of content and 40+ years worth of stories to draw on. This game was really a no-brainer. Or so one would think. I had the opportunity to play in Open Beta, through the Head Start, and now I'm about a week into release.
