Just not Working
Susan L. Nichols, Amazon
18 May 2014
Summary: Everything is pretty good but every time I try to use the discs function (which is to beam down) it says spore has stopped working and closes it, I try this a bunch of times, and boom, it won't work. Written by my 11 year old son.
Summary: Can't play this game. It either cannot detect SPORE which I have it perfectly installed legit and it cannot seem to properly install. It corrupted files making SPORE AND Galactic Adventures unplayable. I don't know how EA can get away with such horrible programming.
Summary: Upon installing Spore Galactic Adventures I received numerous error messages and was unable to load it due to some corrupted file on the installation disc(tried several times). My system meets all of the requirements so I have no idea how to fix this. I read the manual's troubleshooting section with no luck. When I tried to call the tech support referenced in the manual, I found out that it is in United Kingdom...
Summary: My kids play this a lot and like it quite a bit, but I cannot get the game registered on the EA website, and when I wrote to describe and ask for help with this problem, I never heard back. What trolls!
Doesn't work on snow leopard; developer doesn't care about mac platform
William Pugh, Amazon
16 December 2009
Summary: We haven't been able to get Spore or Spore GA to work on snow leopard (the current version of the Macintosh operating system). Several different kinds of fatal crashes, developer has acknowledged incompatibilities since September. At that point, EA blamed Apple for the bug, but no updates from either EA or Apple since September.
Summary: My sons love the original Spore. I was hoping this expansion pack would bring the fun of the Creature and Tribal stages to the latter part of the game (since Civilization and Space are frankly boring) I installed GA on my PowerMac and right away I knew there was going to be trouble. Error messages about installer scripts not working properly began to show up. The installer seemed to finish successfully though. Then the kids tried to play the game.
Summary: Let me start with singling out the most useful feature of "Galactic Adventures". The rate of eco-disasters drops from approx 1/min (with 5 disasters occurring simultaneously at a time) to 1/4 hours. This is truly a great tweak that allows you to explore the galaxy without having to worry about your empire dying out as soon as you leave your home world. However, this should be is a tiny patch, not an expansion pack.
Summary: DO YOURSELF A FAVOR: Do not buy this game! Spend your money on another, non-EA product that you like, instead. I regret that I can't rate this game lower. In a nutshell, the "protections" on this game render it unplayable. In an effort to rectify my problems, I stumbled on forum, after forum, after forum of hundreds of people who, like me, purchased the game legitimately only to not be able to install it!
Most glitchy frustrating and annoying game I have ever come across.
22 September 2009
Summary: Every single feature of this game is monstrously unreliable and glitchy. Missions will crash at least half of the time. Any idea that might strike one as a common sense good thing will not be found in this game. Worst waster of money I have ever experienced in gaming.
Summary: Be forewarned - this game will not run in 64-bit Windows Vista. There is no patch to fix it. Technical support is no help - they simply state that the game was not designed to run in 64-bit (despite the Windows Vista logo on the box which, apparently, only applies to 32-bit but it does not indicate this anywhere in system requirements or on their website - which is an illegal practice in some countries).
