SiN Episodes: Emergence

Strategy Informer
5 May 2007
  • Conclusion: The bottom line for Sin Episodes: Emergence is that it has some nice features which make it better than an average FPS, but the things that are missing mean it’s never going to be great. Unless Ritual have a much improved game for the second episode, it seems unlikely that many people will still be playing when chapter nine is finally reached.

  • Excerpt: "Would have been a 9 but...." Ah, Sin. The land of mutants, drugs, and well-endowed villainesses. In other words, much like any summer music festival, except that you have a gun. For those unfamiliar with the game, Sin was originally released October 1998. It was a great shooter with a few innovations to the genre. It had plenty of atmosphere and character.

Game Over Online

  • Excerpt: Original sin Ritual’s Sin Episodes: Emergence is a strange case for several reasons. To begin with it’s a sequel to Sin , a game that’s eight years old. Most franchises are lucky to be remembered after two years have gone by. Second: though it is in stores, it’s being distributed primarily in digital form through Valve’s Steam network.

Expert Review

GameSpot
17 May 2006
  • Summary: One of the most highly anticipated first-person shooters of 1998 was SiN, which promised to combine the action movie feel of Duke Nukem 3D with the impressive technology behind Quake, together with an original storyline. But a game called Half-Life appeared practically without warning at around the same time, stole SiN's thunder, and blew away all other competition.
  • Pros: Messy, fairly intense shooting action, Interactive environments make good use of realistic physics, Budget-priced package includes the original SiN game
  • Cons: Only three main weapons, Limited enemy variety, lackluster artificial intelligence, Uninspired story and dialogue has a distinct lack of wisecracking, No multiplayer

5 January 2007
  • Excerpt: A new concept in gaming This review originally posted at MentalGamers – http://www.mentalgamers.com/game_reviews.php?r=18 SiN Episodes is a new concept in gaming as far as I’m aware. Basically the plan is to release a number of small “episodes” of a larger game. Each episode contains around 4-5 hours of gameplay for the average gamer and, obviously, each episode carries on from the one before it.
  • Pros: “Personal Challenge System”, Source engine physics
  • Cons: Linear, AI not great, High price for very little play-time

  • Summary: Historie se opakuje. Na jedné straně Elexis Sinclairová, dcera laureáta Nobelovy ceny za genetiku, a její plány evoluce lidstva. Na druhé straně John Blade, poručík prestižní bezpečnostní instituce, v roli pokusného králíka. V dnešní repríze ovšem začínáme nanovo.
