Summary: This was a Good game for XP but it dosen't work on VISTA!!! So number 4 is in the mail!!! I like sinking to almost crush depth after firing on enemy and watching the food swing after they drop depth charges, hoping not to become fish food!!!
Summary: If you are interested in submarines, this is the easy way to get the feel of operating one with out actually getting depth charged. Good graphics and control system. Takes practice to be good with it though.
Summary: This is a great game. I havent tried the others yet. I would have liked to see a little more help about how to repair stations. Also there are right click options with the mouse that are shortcuts not discussed in the manual.
Summary: I had this game prior to this purchase which is a replacement...It claims to work on the Vista operating system, and will install, however it will not play...I have tried every thing I know to do to make it work, does anyone else have this problem ? What a hassell!!! Guess I'll have to pay some professional computer genius to make it work!!! Ubi Soft's trouble shooter was no help at all!!! Not happy...
Summary: I played the first silent hunter for Nintendo. That was almost 20 years ago. When this game came out I went into a frenzy to get my hands on it. Amazingly enough I was thoroughly impressed. (Ubisoft is notorious for forcing game release dates even with an unfinished product). There are a few bugs that later patches fixed.
Summary: very realistic, game has some graphics issues, but all in all good simulation. a little slow to load, maybe more complex than it needs to be. aerial gunnery is not very realistic, should score more hits in reality. type 7 u-boats dive in less than 17 seconds, simulation doesn't show this. type 7 u-boats had the fastest dive of any ww2 sub.
Summary: I have owned all of the versions of this game, from the original to this one, and they keep getting better. The graphics and sound on this newest version are great. My only dislike is in the 'Naval Academy' training scenarios. You will get a message saying that you have successfully completed the exam, however if you exit out of the scenario and click 'go back to base' the game does not always recognize that you completed that session, and you will have to do it over...
Summary: I've been looking for a good sub game (regardless of platform) since Nintendo's Silence service in the late 80's. I even (sort of) liked the Silent Service for PC in the early 90's, but it was average. NOW THIS GAME prompted me to BUY ALL THE SILENT HUNTER GAMES! I don't think I should have popped this in first but I have to say i was blown away by graphics alone. Controls and operation are a bit overwhelming, but i have to read and get use to. A great WW2 game. BUY IT!
